Tomorrow, Australians will take part in the 2026 Census.

The Census helps build a picture of our communities, including who lives here, how our needs are changing, and what support people may need in the future.

The information collected helps governments and community organisations plan important services such as aged care, disability support, healthcare, transport, housing and community programs.

For communities across our regions, every response helps create a clearer picture of local needs and helps ensure future services are designed around real people and real communities.

🧠 National Stroke Week reminds us that knowing the signs of stroke can save a life.

For many stroke survivors, recovery continues long after they leave the hospital. Through the Support at Home Restorative Care Pathway, eligible older people may be able to access short-term, goal-focused support to help rebuild strength, confidence and independence at home. Services can include nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, personal care, transport and support with everyday tasks.

Jacky Hudson – grandmother of five and great-grandmother of two – will have her chance in the sporting spotlight when

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system across Australia.
On Monday 27 July, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert. The test times across Australian time zones are:
• 2:00 pm AEST (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS)
• 1:30 pm ACST (SA, NT, Broken Hill NSW)
• 12:00 pm AWST (WA)

The message will vibrate and include a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If this could disrupt you or cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time in your location, and leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

This NAIDOC Week, Adssi came together to reflect, learn and celebrate the strength, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Guided by locally respected elder Uncle Terry, our team shared in a smoking ceremony, a BBQ and an open yarn about connection, respect, belonging and the importance of caring for one another.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, “50 Years of Deadly”, honours five decades of celebrating First Nations voices, culture, resilience and leadership. It also reminds us to look forward and support the next generation of First Nations leaders and changemakers.

We also want to thank staff who supported our Happy Boxes Project donation drive. Your generous donations of hygiene, self-care and essential items will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, young people, mums, bubs and Elders in Garrthalala, a remote coastal homeland in Northeast Arnhem Land.

Thank you to everyone who took part, donated and helped make this week so meaningful.

Today, we’re proud to be attending the Central Coast NAIDOC Community Day at Wyong Race Club, on Darkinjung Country, hosted by the Central Coast Local Health District.

Julie and Jodie, two of our local Support at Home Care Partners, are running our stall and connecting with community members, local services and families about accessing home aged care on the Central Coast.

It is also important that families and communities know that home aged care support is available from age 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. For anyone beginning to think about support at home, having a conversation early can help people understand their options and access care in a way that feels right for them and their family.

National NAIDOC Week is always an important time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and in this milestone year for NAIDOC, we’re especially proud to be part of such a meaningful community event.

Thank you to Central Coast Health for having us, and to Wyong Race Club for hosting such an important day for our community.
