One of the biggest nutrition mistakes I see women making is not eating enough protein at breakfast.
Many breakfasts are heavily based on carbohydrates. Think toast, cereal, muesli, fruit or porridge on its own.
The problem is that these breakfasts often donât contain enough protein to support healthy blood sugar levels, keep us satisfied for long, or provide the nutrients our bodies need as we age.
Protein helps maintain muscle mass, supports metabolism, keeps blood sugar levels more stable and helps keep us fuller for longer.
Thatâs why I encourage women to start with protein when planning breakfast and build from there.
This morning it was Good Fish wild caught sardines in olive oil, parsley and avo on nonie's activated charcoal bread.
Not everyoneâs idea of breakfast, I know đ but sardines are packed with protein, omega-3 fats, calcium, vitamin D and B12.
So tomorrow morning, instead of asking âWhatâs for breakfast?â try asking:
âWhereâs the protein?â
