How long can you burn the candle at both ends before there’s nothing left to burn?

Spending time with this year’s Women Inspired ladies has made me realise how common this thread is among ambitious women.

We push boundaries, carry enormous responsibility and keep saying yes because we care deeply about our businesses, families and communities. We convince ourselves we’ll slow down after the next deadline, project or milestone, but the finish line keeps moving.

Our drive may help us achieve extraordinary things, but we shouldn’t have to exhaust ourselves to prove how capable we are.

Perhaps real strength is knowing when to push and when to pause, refill your own cup and protect the woman behind it all.

My favourite seat in the studio
I think I have the best seat in the house right now.
I'm spending my days photographing incredible women and then sitting down for deep, live-recorded conversations about their lives.
I'm hearing about the moments that changed them.
The people who inspired them.
The things they wish they'd known earlier.
The risks they've taken and the impact they hope to leave behind.
Then five minutes later we're back in the studio laughing and creating gorgeous photographs together.
THIS is why I love Women Inspired.
The book is beautiful, but the experience of creating it together is something else entirely.

Imagine this room
Imagine what happens when you put 30 women with completely different life experiences into one project.
Different ages. Different careers. Different families. Different challenges.
Yet over and over again, there are moments when I hear a woman talking and think, someone else REALLY needs to hear this.

That's why these stories matter.

We don't share them because our lives are perfect.
We share them because they're not.
Someone else's courage can remind us to keep going. Someone else's lesson can change the way we see our own situation.
That's the ripple effect of Women Inspired and Volume 5 is already full of it!

Women Inspired has always been about sharing the stories of remarkable women, wherever in the world those stories take us.
Photographing the beautiful Miriam Henkeoverseas was such a special experience. There is something powerful about capturing a woman in a place that feels meaningful to her, surrounded by the colours, energy and landscape that are part of her story and yes I am absolutely happy to travel!

More than a photoshoot
It might look like a photoshoot, but there is SO much more happening here.
Yes, we create beautiful photographs. Yes, we have fun and yes, there is usually plenty of laughter.
But somewhere between the makeup chair, the camera and the recorded interview, the conversations get deeper.
We talk about life. Business. Family. Challenges. Pivots. The things that have shaped us and the things that keep us going and I get to ask one of my favourite questions:

The answers this year have been incredible.

Some of the most memorable moments happen behind the scenes.
In Volume 3 I had absolute pleasure of meeting and photographing the incredible Lisa Curry - A New Lisa Life. During the couple of hours we spent together in hair and makeup and throughout her photoshoot, she sprinkled so much wisdom into our conversations.
We chatted about everything under the sun from building a career in the public eye to family, awards, gold medals and everything in between.
What struck me most was how incredibly real Lisa is. There was no façade, just honesty, warmth, wisdom and a genuine willingness to share the highs, the heartbreaks and the lessons life has given her.
It doesn’t surprise me that she has dedicated this chapter of her life to helping women feel better in their health and wellbeing through her health & vitamin range Happy Healthy You. Her passion comes from such an authentic place.
What a privilege it was to spend those hours with her, hear her stories and capture the woman behind the achievements.
