Overwhelm does not always appear suddenly.

Sometimes, there are small signs that a child may need support before things become too much.

They might move away from an activity.
Cover their ears.
Become quieter than usual.
Need more time to respond.
Say “no” more often.
Or find it harder to follow instructions.

These signs are not “bad behaviour.” They can be helpful clues that a child may need a break, a calmer space, clearer communication, or more time to process what is happening.

When families, carers, and support teams notice these early signs, support can happen earlier, more gently, and with greater understanding. 💚

Myth: Disability support should look the same for everyone.

Fact: Good support is personalised.

Every participant has different needs, goals, routines, strengths, and ways of communicating. What works for one person may not work for another.

That is why meaningful support should start with understanding the individual, not applying the same approach to everyone.

At Lime Rainbow, we believe support should be respectful, practical, and centred around the person. Whether it is support at home, in the community, at school, or during daily routines, the goal is to help each participant feel understood, included, and supported in a way that works for them.

The larger bathroom upgrade is coming along, with works continuing to create a more spacious wet room for clients who may need support with showering or personal washing assistance.

This upgrade will help make everyday care safer, easier, and more comfortable for the people we support.
