π¨ Important Compliance Update for Medical Practices: SMS Sender ID Registration
From 1 July 2026, all Australian businesses that send SMS messages using a branded sender name (for example, your practice name rather than a mobile number) will need to register their SMS Sender ID with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
If your Sender ID is not registered, your messages may appear as βUnverifiedβ and could be filtered as spam.
This change is designed to help protect patients from scam messages and increase trust in practice communications.
What your practice should do:
βοΈ Contact your practice management software provider
βοΈ Confirm whether your SMS provider will manage the registration process
βοΈ Ensure your branded Sender ID is registered before 1 July 2026
Need assistance navigating this change? QGOS can help your practice liaise with software providers and implement the required updates.
