This is why we use ACX on exhaust fans. 👀

This bathroom had fans venting into the roof cavity, creating the perfect environment for moisture and mould.
After upgrading the fans and venting them properly outside, we coated the fan barrel, housing and ducting with ACX to help break the mould growth cycle.
As I’ve said before, ACX does NOT kill mould. And we don’t want it to. We remove mould.
When applied correctly, ACX helps interrupt the mould growth cycle, helping prevent mould from continuing to grow.

If you have ducted air conditioning, check this NOW.
I see ductwork installed incorrectly ALL the time.
❌ Sitting on insulation
❌ Poorly sealed
❌ Held up with string or wire
❌ No airflow around the duct
❌ Condensation + mould as a result

Your ductwork should be properly sealed, insulated and suspended with airflow around it.
This is Ducted Aircon 101… but so many installations get it wrong. 👀

This ad is utter nonsense, but I see similar ones far too often.

“Point and shoot” and the mould disappears?

It doesn’t work like that. Mould doesn’t just disappear because you sprayed something on it.

I honestly can’t believe this stuff is still being advertised.

Think mouldy flexible ducting can be cleaned? Think again.

Those spinning brushes and whips you see advertised can’t properly clean the ridged inner liner, and they can even damage it.

If flexible ducting is contaminated with mould, replacement is often the better option.

Don’t believe everything you’re sold. 👀

Ditch the dry duster

Instead of using a dry duster, which can simply redistribute dust and spores into the air, use a slightly damp microfiber cloth with just 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid in filtered or demineralised water.

Less is more. Don’t add lots of detergent. Excess soap can leave behind a residue (biofilm) that mould spores and other microorganisms can adhere to.

As you clean, keep folding your microfiber so you’re always using a fresh section. Use one cloth per room, then dry the surface with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

This method is designed for hard, wipeable surfaces. Use your judgement when cleaning delicate, porous, or moisture-sensitive materials, as they may require a different approach.

Using the right technique helps remove particles instead of simply redistributing them.

The wall looked perfectly clean in normal light.
Then we turned on a $20 UV torch… 👀

This is exactly why I tell people to arm themselves with knowledge. A simple UV torch can reveal patterns you would otherwise never know were there.

More things than you probably want to see… but some things you really need to. 🔦
