šŸ’™ Thank you to everyone who came along to the Embrace meetup on Sunday night and to the Jungle Duke for hosting us.

It was lovely to spend time together as a group, share conversations and enjoy each other’s company.

We hope those who attended found the evening beneficial, supportive and worthwhile.

It’s the kindness, openness and willingness people show one another that make Embrace such a welcoming community where people can connect and feel accepted.

We’re grateful for everyone who supports Embrace in different ways, whether by attending, staying in touch or simply following along.

One of the most special parts of Embrace is meeting people from different backgrounds, experiences and generations, and discovering the common ground we share.

LIVESTREAM TONIGHT over on the Facebook group page.

Pat and I will be going live tonight at 7pm 😊

We’ll be answering questions, having a chat, and giving everyone a chance to get to know us a little better — the people behind all the posts you see here at Embrace.

We’ll also be doing a bit of an interview-style chat between the two of us, talking about Embrace, our journey, and some ideas we have for the year ahead.

Have a question you’d like answered or a topic you’d like us to chat about? Pop it in the comments below! You’re also more than welcome to join the live, comment, and have a chat with us ā¤ļø

SO WHAT DO WE DO AT AN EMBRACE MEETUP?

It’s come to my attention that we’ve had quite a few new people join the group lately who might be interested in coming along, but aren’t really sure what to expect and our old posts are too far down. So I thought I’d do a non-formal, straight-to-the-point rundown without all the background information or boring stuff.

🌟Is it like a therapy session? Do we have to talk about ourselves and our mental health🌟

Absolutely not. Most of the time we’re just chatting about normal day-to-day life. It’s an open space with like-minded people who understand each other, and while you can talk about anything that might be weighing on you, a lot of the time it honestly just feels like catching up with a group of friends for a meal or coffee and getting out of the house.

🌟Where and when🌟

Meetups are held each month on a different day/date, time, and venue. We usually alternate between places like pubs, restaurants, cafes, and sometimes other spots like parks. We also try to mix it up between weekdays and weekends. It can be hard to cater to everyone, but we do try to be mindful of what suits people best and switch things up where we can.

🌟How do you find us?🌟

We will post in the group the location and details in advance, if it’s at a pub we will let you know if it’s inside or outside. When you arrive you will spot pat or myself, as well as some sort of embrace merchandise. You are welcome to ask us where we are located too.

🌟How long does a meetup go for?

They usually go for roughly a couple of hours. However, there is absolutely no obligation to stay that whole time. You can stay for as little or as long as you like, and you can turn up at any time. There’s no pressure to order food or drinks if you don’t want to either.

🌟How many people attend?🌟

It differs each time. We’re seeing a lot of new faces pop up lately and are hoping to keep growing, but on average it’s usually around 7 to 10 people. Some you’ll start to recognise as regulars, and others will be new. We have a mix of male and female attendees and a range of ages. Conversations usually happen in smaller groups or one-on-one rather than as one big group discussion. It’s very natural

🌟What to expect when you arrive

You’ll usually spot Pat and/or myself first, normally with something Embrace-related so we’re easy enough to find. Just come over, introduce yourself, and we’ll start chatting. There’s no pressure to share anything you don’t want to.

🌟A quick note🌟

Neither Pat nor I are mental health professionals. Everyone who attends is simply someone who has their own struggles and understands what that’s like. The only things we really ask are that everyone respects each other’s privacy, follows the group rules, and is kind and respectful.

Hopefully this gives you a clearer idea of what to expect and helps take some of the unknown out of coming along for the first time. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below or reach out to either myself or Pat privately.

Embrace Mental Health Meetups Wagga Wagga is a local, peer-led mental health support group offering gentle, in-person meetups and a moderated private Facebook group in a safe and welcoming environment. Our meetups are designed to be low-pressure and inclusive. There’s no expectation to speak or share — you’re welcome to come exactly as you are, for as long or as little as feels right for you.

To help protect everyone’s privacy and maintain a safe space, we don’t share meetup locations or times publicly. All details are shared inside our private, moderated Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1570895626635121/

To keep Embrace a safe and supportive space for everyone, our Facebook group is actively moderated. While we always aim to resolve concerns respectfully and peacefully, there are rare occasions where people may be removed if their behaviour makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe. These decisions are made with care and with the well-being of the wider community in mind.

If you’re interested in learning more, or you think our meetups might be helpful for you or someone you care about, we warmly invite you to request to join the private group. Once approved, you’ll be able to see upcoming meetup information and connect with others in a respectful, confidential space.

You’re very welcome — and there’s no pressure, ever. You are not your illness. And your illness does not define you.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year!

Since we weren’t able to have a group meet-up in December, I wanted to see what everyone thinks about catching up this month. I’m thinking of something low-key and casual during the last week of January.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to suggest any locations or activities you’d enjoy, and let me know which day works best for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you all and hopefully seeing some of you soon!

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to myself and the other admins šŸ˜ŠšŸ«¶šŸ»
