The role of a support worker in a persons life is to support and assist in their growth and independence and to enrich their life.
I tell all my supports that if you need me for the same capacity 2 years down the track from starting then I haven’t done my job well enough.
This is a bitter sweet moment for me.
Ethan was one of my very first participants I worked with when starting in support work.
And when I started MMC one of my very first clients.
I have seen him grow and thrive to a point now where his support hours have been reduced because he is achieving his goals and continues to grow into a absolute success as a young man.
I will miss our weekly adventures and scrambling through the bush looking for geochaches but looking forward to seeing you grow into the fine young man we know you are.

I get a lot of people saying gee you’re lucky to go out and get outside and go fishing or hiking or chasing gold while I get to support fantastic people or as I call them My Mates.
This is by no means a coincidence as to why I provide this kind of service.
I’m a firm believer that being in the outdoors and grounding yourself in nature is key to overcoming both physical and mental health challenges.
For those carrying the mental health load in silence a few hours on the water like a conduit it will allow yourself to slow down and process and even talk about your problems or even taking a few hours to not speak and listen to the sounds of nature and allow it to mend your mind and body.
I myself use this exact technique and why I’m such a huge advocate for it myself, putting my boots on and walking the river has a way of prioritising life in a way that just helps you relax.
We have plenty of Doctors and eggshell coloured rooms with tacky art on the walls and lists of medications 💊 that can be prescribed in a instant but very few places where we can slow down and allow ourselves time to breathe.
My Mate Chris will continue to provide the kind of support where the only problem you may have is a few layers of dirt on your shoes and sore cheeks from smiling

Robert produced the goods this morning just before the bell rung!
I was busy loading the car when I turned around to see Robert with loaded rod connected to this hog of a Cod.
Few quick pics then a fast release ready for the next angler
