Life changes. Purpose stays.

Life looks a little different for our family these days.

My boys are growing up, and at the same time, I’m finding myself building a new life too.

There have been changes, difficult moments and plenty of uncertainty. I’m learning to let go of what I thought life was supposed to look like — and create something new.

But one thing that hasn’t changed is my purpose.

I’m still here doing the work I love — helping people improve their metabolic health, navigate perimenopause and menopause, and use lifestyle as part of their healthcare.

In fact, going through a season of change myself has reminded me that health doesn’t happen in a perfect little bubble.

We still have relationships, children, work, hormones, stress, poor nights and unexpected turns in life.

We don’t have to wait until everything settles down before we start looking after ourselves.

So yes, you may see a little more of this new chapter of my life here. 🌿

But I’m still Dr Avi. Still consulting. Still passionate about metabolic and menopausal health. And still here to help.

A different chapter. The same purpose. ❤️

Something I’ve been reminded of this week is just how important connection is. ❤️

Since sharing a little more about this different season of my life, I’ve had so many people reach out.

Some have checked in to ask if I’m okay.
Some have sent a simple message of support.
Some have shared their own stories with me — difficult seasons, unexpected changes, rebuilding, starting again.

And I’ve really appreciated every single one.

Sometimes we don’t know what someone else is carrying behind the scenes.

And sometimes a simple “How are you going?” means much more than we realise.

As a doctor, I talk a lot about nutrition, movement, sleep and stress.

But connection matters too.

Friends. Family. Colleagues. New connections. Old friends who suddenly appear in your inbox.

The people who walk alongside us when life changes.

I’m discovering that looking after yourself isn’t always something you have to do by yourself.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in, commented, messaged, shared your own story or simply been there.

I feel very lucky to have so many wonderful people around me. This has been an amazing journey with getting to know so many amazing people and calling them friends.❤️

And perhaps this is a little reminder from me to you:

If someone crosses your mind today, check in on them.

That little message might matter more than you know.

One thing I’m learning in this season of life is that change creates space.

Space to ask… Who am I now? What do I actually enjoy? What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like?

For a long time, so much of my identity has been wrapped around being a mum, a doctor, building a business and looking after everyone else.

Lately, I’ve been rediscovering me.

Saying yes to new experiences. Meeting new people. Going places on my own. Doing things that feel a little outside my comfort zone. And learning that life doesn’t have to follow the path you once imagined for it to still be exciting.

I don’t have all the answers about what comes next.

And strangely, I’m becoming quite comfortable with that. 🌿

Sometimes a new chapter starts before you’ve worked out what to call it.

Health when life gets hard 🌱

It’s easy to work on your health when life is going well.

But what happens when life changes?

When there’s stress.
When your family situation changes.
When your identity starts to feel different.
When you're trying to work out what this next chapter of life looks like.

That’s been my reality lately.

But through it, I’ve tried to keep some things steady.

🏃‍♀️ I still run four times a week. Running gives me space to think, breathe and reset.

🏋️‍♀️ I still do strength training 2–3 times a week. Not because I always feel motivated, but because I want to stay strong.

🥗 I cook nourishing meals for my teenage boys and myself. Nourishing my body helps nourish my mind — especially when I'm going through difficult times.

😴 And I prioritise my sleep, even though life looks very different now.

I'm not doing all of this because life is easy.

I'm doing it because life isn't easy.

Lifestyle isn't something we work on only when everything else is sorted.

Sometimes our healthy routines are the things that help carry us through the difficult seasons.

My life is changing. My identity is changing. I'm still figuring out who I am in this new chapter.

But I'm also learning that you can recreate your health while you're recreating yourself.

At 50, I'm certainly not finished yet. 🌱

A different season 🌱

Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been a little quieter lately.

For the past few years, I’ve been so focused on creating — building my clinic, my work, my book, and helping others create healthier lives.

But lately, life has taken a different turn.
I’ve slowed down a little. Made some space. And started creating something else…

Myself.

Life doesn’t always follow the path we imagined. Sometimes a change in direction gives us the opportunity to rediscover who we are, what matters to us, and what we want the next chapter to look like.

I’m still working, still learning, still moving, still helping people improve their health — just at a gentler pace while I build a new chapter of my own.
It feels a little uncertain. A little exciting. And very new.

🌱 Maybe we’re never too old to begin again.

My teens are off to the pub with their dad today ❤️

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures out there. As the boys get older, I appreciate more and more the important role dads play in their lives.

Here’s to good food, good conversations and time together.

Happy Father’s Day — and thank you for all that you do. ❤️

Keto / low carb works!!

Just out…

Effect of diet macronutrient content on the cardiometabolic response to weight loss…

The researchers evaluated the cardiometabolic effects of moderate weight loss induced by three popular diets with markedly different macronutrient composition - very-low-carbohydrate ketogenic, Mediterranean, and very-low-fat plant-forward.

And the findings of this high level randomized clinical trial…

• A ketogenic diet decreases liver fat more than higher-carbohydrate diets

• A ketogenic diet improves liver metabolism more than higher-carbohydrate diets

If you’re metabolically unhealthy (most of us), then reducing carb consumption helps…
