Gift Dad the Gift of Better Hearing this Father’s Day.

This Father’s Day, give Dad or Grandad something that can make a difference long after the celebrations are over - looking after his hearing health.

Encourage him to book a hearing check, particularly if you’ve noticed he’s turning the TV up, missing parts of conversations or asking people to repeat themselves.

For dads who love mowing the lawn, heading to concerts, working with power tools or spending time in other noisy environments, hearing protection can also make a practical Father’s Day gift. 🎧

New research suggests looking after your hearing could also be an important part of looking after your brain health.

A new Australian Government campaign is encouraging people turning 50 to think about the steps they can take to reduce their risk of dementia - and regular hearing checks are among the recommendations.

The campaign draws on research identifying hearing impairment as one of the major modifiable risk factors associated with dementia. It’s an important reminder that hearing health is about much more than simply how well we hear day to day.

Auditory Processing Disorder affects the way the brain processes and understands sound, even when hearing itself is normal. Children and adults with APD may struggle to follow conversations, especially in noisy environments, or have difficulty processing verbal information.

At Knox Audiology, we provide comprehensive APD assessments, education and therapy options tailored to each individual’s needs. Early identification and support can make a significant difference in communication, learning and confidence.

If you or your child experience listening difficulties, trouble following instructions or challenges hearing in background noise, it may be worth learning more about APD.

Do sounds seem unclear or like people are mumbling when they speak?

Muffled hearing can be a common sign of hearing loss, making it harder to pick up clarity in conversations - even if you can still hear sounds around you.

If things aren’t sounding as sharp as they used to, it may be time for a hearing check. Early support can make all the difference. Call 03 9800 5697 or book an appointment via our website:
