Meet Bella ❤️

Bella is a gorgeous 10-year-old Fox Terrier who recently visited us for treatment. She is one of the very special permanent foster dogs cared for by the wonderful team at 4 Paws Animal Rescue Sunshine Coast.

At Nicklin Way Veterinary Surgery, we are proud to provide veterinary care for all of the cats and dogs in the 4 Paws program—from playful puppies and kittens to senior pets like Bella who deserve comfort, love and ongoing medical support in their golden years. 4 Paws' Permanent Resident program gives elderly and special-needs pets a safe and loving future, with veterinary care provided throughout their lives.

Bella was an absolute sweetheart during her visit, and we're always honoured to be part of her care journey.

If you'd like to see more of the beautiful rescue pets we help care for, head over to the 4 Paws Animal Rescue Sunshine Coast social media pages. You'll find plenty of adorable faces looking for love, along with heartwarming stories of rescue, recovery and second chances. 🐾

Thank you to the amazing volunteers, foster carers and supporters who make it all possible. 💙

🐾 Maci's Weight Check Update 🐾

Maci, the gorgeous 3-year-old British Bulldog, popped in for her weight recheck to see how she's progressing on her diet and received her Suprelorin implant to help manage her incontinence.

She was an absolute superstar throughout her visit! Between keeping a close eye on all the patients coming through the clinic and squeezing in a well-deserved nap, Maci made herself right at home. 💙

Keep up the great work, Maci—we can't wait to see your continued progress! 🐶✨

🐶 Does your dog have a small lump on their tummy?

A belly button (umbilical) hernia is a common condition in puppies where the opening at the belly button doesn't fully close after birth. While many are small and harmless, some can become larger or trap tissue, requiring surgical repair.

🔹 Look for a soft lump near your dog's belly button
🔹 Most are painless, but they should always be checked by your veterinarian
🔹 Early assessment helps determine if monitoring or surgery is the best option

If you've noticed a lump on your dog's tummy or have any concerns, our friendly team is here to help.

It's Vet Nurse Week this week! Honestly our nurses deserve more than a week.

If your pet has ever stayed with us at Nicklin Way Vet, one of our nurses was there. Settling them in when they're nervous, sitting with them while they wake up from surgery, and keeping track of about a hundred things at once.

To our nurses, thank you. We really couldn't do it without you.

And a special shout out to our Head Nurse Jasmin, you are the backbone of this clinic and we don’t say it enough. Thank you.

Has one of our nurses looked after your pet? Leave them a thank-you in the comments, we'll make sure they see it.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Chuck has been accused of eating something he shouldn’t have! 🚨🐶

At just 16 weeks old, this adorable little Dachshund has already discovered that the world is basically a giant buffet… unfortunately, not everything on the menu is puppy-approved! 😂

His worried owners brought him in for monitoring, where Dr Sam took excellent care of our tiny suspect and kept a very close eye on him. 🩺👀

Chuck was the perfect patient — although we’re not entirely convinced he’s learned his lesson! 😜

At this age, he’s got short legs, a long body and absolutely no regrets. 😂❤️

Keep being cute, Chuck… but maybe stick to the treats we give you! 🐾

🦎💙 This wild Blue-Tongue Lizard was brought into our care after suffering a suspected animal attack. He had multiple bite wounds, part of his tail was missing, and he was unable to walk.

Our team performed X-rays, which revealed severe injuries to his spine and ribs. Sadly, due to the extent of his injuries and in the interest of preventing further suffering, the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanise him.

While we always hope for a positive outcome, sometimes the kindest gift we can give is a peaceful goodbye. Thank you to the caring members of our community who take the time to help injured wildlife when they are found in need.

Rest easy, little one. 💙
