I'm Julie Bell, mother, doula, herbalist and activist. I have been working with herbs since childhood and my days as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand. I spent 17 years as a humanitarian volunteer worker in Asia, where I was introduced to the amazing materia medica of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Ayurveda tradition of India. My family then emigrated to Australia in 2004, where, after havin

g three homebirths myself, I followed my passion for birthwork and trained as a doula. I have been serving birthing families in Australia since 2006. After the birth of my 4th baby (yes, also at home - and when I was 43!), I had the opportunity to commence formal studies in Western Herbal Medicine and obtained an Advanced Diploma in WHM. My goal is to upgrade that to the Bachelor degree ( - but first, I need to help another child through her VCE!)

Suffice to say, I LOVE herbs and the way this most humble part of creation holds such gifts to ease the path of human life. Herbs have been called "God's pharmacy" and it's amazing how nature provides gentle, wholesome remedies for just about every challenge or condition life presents. Blissful Herbs offers delicious teas, fragrant bath sachets, healing salves and herbal tinctures to support and nurture you through the seasons of life - from Maiden, to Mother, to Maga, to Crone: throughout menarche, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, menopause and beyond. It's my heart to walk gently on this beautiful planet, so here at Blissful Herbs, we try our best to to be an authentically eco-friendly enterprise, using post-consumer, recycled packaging, sourcing organic herbs and other ingredients as locally as possible and using solar power as possible. Oh the smile & sigh at the end! 😍💓

Not all babies cry lustily at birth. This little one is pink, and he's moving, he's attached to his cord, and best of all, he's with his mother. She handles him so beautifully & carefully, gently caressing him until he completes his transition to land breathing.

Nem todos os bebês choram alto e forte imediatamente ao nascer. E tá tudo bem!

Às vezes eles precisam de mais um tempinho e não significa que há algo errado... Na verdade, isso é totalmente fisiológico e normal. Quando ninguém interfere apressando o processo, é assim mesmo que acontece.

Bebês não precisam de alguém puxando a cabeça deles para sair logo... Nem de alguém esfregando rigorosamente o corpinho deles para que chore logo... Não precisam ser jogados no peito da mãe imediatamente, antes que ela mesma tenha a chance de "voltar a si" para recebê-lo... Bebês não precisam ser aspirados com sondas de plástico no nariz e na boca... Nem precisam ser limpos de todo vérnix...

E se receber seu bebê nesse mundo de forma gentil fosse uma opção?

Apenas olhe para esse bebê do vídeo sendo recebido por sua mãe nos primeiros minutos de vida... Podemos ver que ele está vivo e saudável, certo? Podemos ver claramente que ele está super bem. Ele tem bom tônus muscular, tem movimentos corporais, está alerta e ativo, está aprendendo a respirar sozinho sem nenhuma dificuldade, está rosado e até tossiu e deu espirrinhos... Sua mãe está secando sua pele de forma delicada e suave, com muito carinho e cuidado. Percebe que não foi preciso intervir em nada para ter certeza de que ele está bem?

E se mães e bebês pudessem viver seus partos de forma suave e leve? O mundo com certeza seria um lugar muito diferente do que é hoje, não é?

I was there for his birth - and his little brother's birth!

Can confirm that Paddy took his birth prep very seriously and takes his big brother role very seriously too, he loves his lil brother!

I had 10K followers.

Meta disabled my account because I shared images of birth & breastfeeding.

I fought back, & got reinstated.

I built my account to 39K.

And there it stayed, for years - because Meta suppression would not let me gain followers.

Then neo-Nazis attacked my accounts because we protested against racism. Meta, of course, refused to help.

I lost 50K followers across 3 Meta platforms.

So I started again.

2000 new followers might not seek like much, but it's quite a bit when you're up against techbroligarch Fascism.

So, I appreciate you all! Thank you for supporting me, & my work to help birthing families of all types, from all over.

It still cracks me up that even when I had a fast 20 minute birth and the baby was born in a shopping mall, it STILL wasn't a freebirth, because a kindly lady at the next table in the food court said, "Hello. My name's Beryl. I'm a midwife. Would you like me to help you?" And I said, "Sure! The more the merrier! Cast of thousands!"

🤣🤣🤣

It's true, most fast births do tend to be straightforward.

If it happens to you, my advice is, hop on hands & knees and use your husband's shirt to catch the baby. I believe we had blue & white tea towels from the kebab kiosk! 🤪

Fast births are often shockingly simple. Contractions pick up, you feel the urge to push, and then suddenly…you have a baby in your arms. The good news is that most fast births are uncomplicated. And you can be on the phone with your midwife the entire time. I made it to this birth within just seconds of baby’s birth, and her midwife arrived shortly after. ❤️
