💜🌈 Today is Wear It Purple Day 🌈 💜

Today is dedicated to creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and raising awareness about their challenges.

Wear It Purple day is an annual awareness-raising campaign, celebrating and supporting LGBTQ+ youth, and we know it's more important than ever to let young people know they're supported.

This year’s theme is "Colours of Courage", which celebrates the many different forms of courage shown by LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies and communities every day. From speaking up and standing out to quieter acts of bravery like living authentically, coming out, or choosing pride and hope in spaces where being yourself doesn't always feel easy, this theme honours the everyday choices that build community, connection and visibility.

📣 Public Service Announcement 📣

If you have a hidden ‘secret’ or ‘escape’ phone with an active SIM card that you are using to assist in leaving domestic violence, please leave the phone with a trusted person who will be away from your abuser on 27 July 2026.

At 2:00 p.m. (AEST) a loud siren will sound as a trial of an emergency alert is being rolled out across the country. This siren will override phones on Do Not Disturb and on silent.

Please be sure to share this information with those around you, as it could save a life.

Today is the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination! 🌈

Why May 17? It marks the 1990 removal of homosexuality from the WHO Classification of Diseases, a milestone for inclusion. Despite progress, the LGBTQIA+ community still faces discrimination.

Today is a chance for us to stand against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ community and allies, let's make the world more inclusive.

Why May 17? It was on this day in 1990 that homosexuality was removed from the WHO Classification of Diseases - a historic step towards inclusion. Three decades later, despite how far we’ve come, the LGBTQIA+ community unfortunately still faces discrimination.

Days like today offer all of us the opportunity to visibly stand against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ community and allies alike, today we take action to make the world more inclusive.

This year, we couldn’t be prouder of the massive wave of allyship, pride, and visibility we’ve seen across workplaces, schools, and communities.

To every single person who’s gone rainbow: you have sent SUCH a vital message of hope, support, and safety to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Whether you wore a rainbow ribbon, started a conversation, hosted a fundraiser, shared IDAHOBIT online, or hung up a poster, thank you. Each action contributes to building a more inclusive future.
