Yes, reframing exercise 🙌

Over past week in clinic ive met several people who, point blank, tell me they absolutely HATE exercise.
This is a statement Ive heard all too often, both as a clinical practitioner and as a Personal Trainer (yes, you read that right). It’s a statement that baffles me to the core.. how can any human think that movement is a bad thing? We literally function on movement, and the more correctly and regularly you do it, the healthier you will remain. Full stop.
The other thing I see so often, is a mindset toward movement that is terribly misaligned with what it should be. One that is totally centered around body image, and digresses from the facts that we simply have to move to be happy and healthy.
What if you moved away from the social pressures and expectations, sat with yourself for a while and simply asked ‘what is it that I really want and need’? Its not about keeping up with the Jones’, (because trust me when I say that the Jones’ usually end up in my office suffering from mental health issues trying to keep up as well!)
What if I told you that Cortisol (your stress hormone) will forever keep you in a puffed up state that cant and wont lose weight? What if I told you that pushing yourself too hard will only drive you to burnout and, yep, elevated Cortisol! .. have you ever found that your 6days of training just aren’t helping you lose those kilos??? Maybe ask yourself why that is?
Take a break. Realign yourself with what really matters, and get back to the fundamentals that nature intended.

My new Tuesday classes operating out of this beautiful studio at Margate.

We are super excited to offer Pilates with Heather, Tuesdays at 12 noon. Bookings are required.

With a background in exercise physiology and trained as a certified practitioner in Mat Pilates, Heather is offering a Tuesday lunchtime class for all levels. The classes will focus on functional strength, mobility and most importantly fun.
