Every year I watch the same thing happen.

Women slow down in winter, tell themselves they will start properly in spring, and then wonder why nothing has changed by the time September arrives.

Here is what I know from clinic: the women who create the most lasting changes are not the ones who waited for perfect conditions. They are the ones who used the quieter season to build the habits that actually stuck.

Winter gives you fewer social events, more meals at home, and simpler routines. These are not obstacles. They are advantages.

If you are not sure whether gut health or weight reset is your priority right now, the Midlife Reset Quiz is a good place to start.

Borderline Coeliac Test Results Still Matter

A new study shows that even when coeliac blood tests (tTG antibodies) come back as “borderline” or just slightly raised, coeliac disease is often still present. In fact, many people with these results were later diagnosed after further testing.

The takeaway?
Don’t ignore a “weak positive” or “borderline” result—especially if symptoms like bloating, fatigue, diarrhoea, constipation, or nutrient deficiencies continue.

If your test feels unclear, it’s worth asking your health practitioner for follow-up testing. Early diagnosis means earlier healing, and less long-term damage.

Lamb is one of the more underused proteins in healthy eating conversations — which is a shame, because it's rich in zinc, B12, iron, and conjugated linoleic acid (which has some interesting research around body composition).
This version is fast, high-flavour, and works equally well as a midweek dinner or weekend meal prep.
The yoghurt here is doing double duty — it's a fermented dairy food (probiotic), and the acidity cuts through the richness of the lamb perfectly.
Use full-fat Greek or natural yoghurt (not low-fat — the fat matters for satiety and fat-soluble nutrient absorption).
Ingredients (serves 2–3)
Kofta
500g lamb mince
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground coriander
1 garlic clove, minced
Salt and pepper
Roasted Cauliflower
½ head cauliflower, cut into florets
1 tbsp olive oil or ghee
½ tsp turmeric
Salt and pepper
Herbed Yoghurt
½ cup full-fat Greek yoghurt
1 tbsp lemon juice
Small handful fresh mint or parsley, roughly chopped
Salt to taste
Method
Preheat oven to 210°C.
Toss cauliflower with oil, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Roast 20–25 minutes until golden.
Meanwhile, mix kofta ingredients well. Shape into small logs or patties.
Cook kofta in a hot pan or on a grill — approx. 3–4 minutes each side.
Mix yoghurt, lemon, and herbs.
Serve kofta alongside cauliflower with a generous dollop of herbed yoghurt.
High protein. Low GI. Gut-supportive. Genuinely satisfying.

The enteric nervous system — sometimes called the "second brain" — lines your entire digestive tract.
It contains approximately 500 million neurons.
It communicates directly with your brain via the vagus nerve, and it responds to stress in real time.
When your nervous system perceives threat (including psychological stress — a difficult conversation, a deadline, financial pressure), it diverts resources away from digestion.
Blood flow to the gut decreases.
Gut motility changes — for some, that means diarrhoea. For others, constipation.
The gut lining becomes more permeable.
The microbiome composition begins to shift.
This is why stress and gut symptoms are so frequently linked — even when there's no obvious food trigger.
It's also why gut healing that focuses only on food has a ceiling.
You can eat the most anti-inflammatory diet in the world. If your nervous system is under chronic load, your gut will continue to be affected.
This doesn't mean stress is an excuse not to work on food.
It means the two have to be worked on together — in the right order, at the right pace.
That's the approach I take in both The Gut Reset and The Midlife Reset.

After a decade in clinic, I can tell you this with confidence:
Most women arrive knowing something is off.
The weight that won't shift. The gut that's unpredictable. The energy that's gone flat. The feeling that their body is just... not cooperating anymore.
But when I ask what they think is driving it?
Most aren't sure.
They have theories. Usually about food.
But the real drivers — stress physiology, gut microbiome, insulin sensitivity, hormonal shifts, sleep quality, inflammatory load — often go unexamined.
Because no one has helped them look.
This is where The Midlife Reset Quiz comes in.
It's not a "are you healthy?" quiz. It's a readiness assessment across the four areas that most influence midlife health: weight, gut, stress, and personalisation.
It takes about five minutes.
And the results give you a starting point — not more generic advice, but a clearer picture of where your attention actually belongs.
If you've been spinning your wheels and not sure why, this is worth five minutes of your time.
