Big thanks to Gippy Automotive Services this week. They supported a young male with disabilities to navigate the repair of their car. Excellent communication and advocacy. They are a unique local business supporting our disability community through values of respect and access and equity. 💜

Today, on National Sorry Day, we remember and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities and cultures - now known as the Stolen Generations.

Blue Knot acknowledges the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations Survivors and recognises the enduring impacts on survivors, their families and communities. We all have a role to play in supporting truth-telling, healing, justice and reconciliation.

Being in an unfamiliar place looking for a bathroom can be stressful for anyone.

But for people with disability, there is an added stress of not knowing how often you will come by an accessible toilet.

Everyone has the right to road trip, explore new places or go to their local shops knowing there is an accessible toilet nearby.

Travelling with a disability requires a lot of forward planning, and having access to resources that can help you locate accessible toilets is a game changer.

There are several apps available to assist, each offering different features, including:
- Where is public toilet
- Toilet finder
- Flush toilet finder

Recognising concerns early – and taking action – can make all the difference.

If you’re a provider or support worker, it’s important to check in with your participant as soon as a concern arises, and to document and escalate it promptly. This helps ensure their immediate safety and support.

Under the NDIS Code of Conduct, both registered and unregistered providers must act on any concerns that could impact safety and quality.

Acting early helps keep participants safe and supports high-quality care.
