What happens when an unwelcome communicator enters a mediumship session?

Not every presence that arrives needs to be given the floor.

As practitioners, our responsibility extends beyond receiving information. It asks us to remain relationally attuned to the person sitting in front of us — their history, their readiness, their boundaries, and the potential impact of what we choose to bring into the space.

Sometimes discernment means opening the door.
And sometimes, it means gently keeping it closed.

Evidence is not the only measure of ethical mediumship.

Mediumship is not only about connection. It is also about discernment, responsibility & care.

In mediumship, so much attention is given to the practitioner: How do I perform? Where is the information coming from? How do I receive more evidence?

But what about the person receiving it?

Is there enough readiness to meet what may emerge? What happens when information enters a psyche that may already be navigating grief, trauma, longing or uncertainty? And where does our responsibility begin — and end — as practitioners?

Perhaps the question is not only whether the information is accurate, but whether we have developed the discernment to recognise what is ours to say, how it is offered, and what may be projection rather than perception.

Maybe readiness belongs to both sides of the threshold.

It has taken me a long time to become comfortable with being seen.
I have always found it easier to sit beside another person, to listen deeply, to witness their story, than to turn the gaze toward myself. Yet perhaps part of this work is also allowing ourselves to step from behind the veil and say: this is who I am, and this is something of the path that brought me here.
So, for those who have recently found their way to this little corner of mine — welcome. And for those who have been walking beside me for some time, thank you.
This is a little of the story behind Eva Essence — and the woman behind the work.

FROM WITHIN THE CONTAINER

There are moments in life when something within us quietly asks to be seen. This beautiful reflection comes from a woman who entered the container with openness, curiosity and courage, not knowing exactly what would unfold. Before a seed can take root, the soil must first be prepared. In much the same way, healing from grief and trauma is often less about fixing what is broken and more about gently tending to the inner ground from which new life can emerge. This reflection explores the quiet work of creating the conditions for growth, honouring the wisdom, resilience and unfolding that already exist within us. 🌿
