Strengthening Culturally Safe Leadership at Nawiri Care

At Nawiri Care Services, we believe culturally safe, inclusive and person-centred support starts with the people who lead, supervise and support our teams.

This week, our leadership team had the privilege of participating in Cultural Supervision Training delivered by Omid Sabet from CultivatePro Training.

The session provided an important opportunity to reflect on how culture, identity and intersectionality influence the way people experience workplaces, services and support. Together, we explored:

* Cultural safety and culturally responsive leadership
* Identity and intersectionality
* Recognising our own biases and blind spots
* Active listening and reflective practice
* The role of supervisors in creating inclusive and equitable workplaces
* Supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

For Nawiri Care, this learning directly connects with our commitment to person-centred, respectful and culturally responsive NDIS support. The people we support come from diverse backgrounds, and meaningful support requires us to listen, understand individual experiences and ensure every person feels respected, valued and safe.

We are proud of our leadership team for embracing reflection, continuous learning and professional development. Cultural safety is not simply something we understand — it is something we actively create through how we listen, lead, support and supervise.

This Brain Injury Awareness Week, Nawiri Care Services stands with people living with brain injury, their families, carers, support networks and communities.

Running from 17–23 August 2026, this year’s theme — “Brain injury: many pathways, one community” — reminds us that no two brain injuries are the same. Every person’s experience, recovery and support needs can look different.

Brain injury can happen at any stage of life and can result from many circumstances, including falls, road accidents, sports injuries, stroke, illness and other causes. Around 1 in 45 Australians live with a brain injury, making awareness, understanding and inclusive support more important than ever.

At Nawiri Care Services, we believe that every person deserves to be heard, respected and supported to live a meaningful, self-determined life.

💜 We promote inclusion and independence.
