CALLING ALL DANCERS AT HEART!
I am keen to start another Zumba Gold class in addition to my 9am Monday Gosford 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre and 11am Friday Narara Ecovillage
Please get in contact if you are keen for a 5.30pm Monday Narara Ecovillage Class or 11.15am Gosfrod 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre Class.

FYI This and next week I have another FREE 11.15am Wed Class at Gosfrod 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre to see if it a popular time.

What Is Zumba Gold?
Zumba Gold is a low impact dance class for:
-the older active adult: bit of a falls prevention exercise class with specific balance exercises.
- can be a good option for people with an injury/ post knee and hip surgeries with no jumping or twisting- check with your health/fitness professional first
- those new to dance, coming back to fitness including post pregnancy, (check with your health professional) we build upon the basic moves as the dances progress.
- people with disability or neurodiversity who need to keep their busy brain active with positive thoughts and connect the mind to body.
-anyone who finds the regular Zumba class too fast and too intense and loves to keep all the different dance genres around the world alive!

We do a bit of salsa, cha cha, disco, country, swing, belly dancing and more!

Leave all self judgement at home!
See you shaking your stuff on the dancefloor!

This is so sad, nutrition consultation with an expert Accredited Practising Dietitian is so important.

Unless a Dietitian does a nutrition assessment, (I often use a nutritional analysis software called Foodworks), to check food intake against requirements, you can't guarantee the multivitamin supplement is effective. I am not sure how much time the hospital Dietitians had allocated to the family but knowing the health system, it may not have been adequate. Feeding therapy has come a long way in recent years and requires a lot of time to educate, reasssess and make progress.

In other countries Dietitians are starting to have prescibing rights for supplements, which are like medication, you need the right dose to be effective, too much and you can get side effects, too little and signs and symptoms of deficiency present. Then, there are interactions with other medicines or herbals etc to consider. So a consultation process with the GP or pharmacist would work best.

I would love to see Dieitians more valued and everyone see a Dietitian just like they would see a GP or dentist. The 3 D's Doctor, Dietitian and Dentist, it is normal and acceptable. Have a check in about your eating habits with your Dietitian and you will be in the best control of your health that you can be.

I would love to see every family with a child with a disability and feeding concerns seeing an experienced Accredited Practising Dietitian from the moment they start having concerns. Hospitals have long wait lists and limited time. NDIS has a lot of red tape.

If you know someone with feeding concerns please encourage a Dietitian consultation. It could be the best thing you do! Find an APD at Dietitians Australia

GROW IT KNOW IT OKINAWA SPINACH
Okinawa is a Prefecture in Japan in the Blue Zone: where a higher number of centenarians live, whose diets are high in plant based foods, omega 3's and super low in factory foods.

Okinawa Spinach is so easy to grow, it does not mind a bit of shade, (a trait of plants with with a purple underside of their leaves) or a damp spot. Mine has also survived the sunniest and dryest places in my garden. It cna be prone to critters that munch the leaves too, but if you grow plenty in different places of your garden giving that fair share of 25% to nature should not be a problem. It propogates from cuttings so easily that you can make many plants and share abundantly. I plan to grow a lot more in my garden to eat, now I have begun using this new (to me) food in my cooking.

Like all spinach it is a great source of fibre (to keep you regular), vitamin C (for immunity), vitamin A (eye health), and Vitamin K, for blood clotting. It contains minerals like calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium and manganese as well.

You can eat Okinawa Spinach raw such as in a salad, or cooked in pretty much any dish you please. How do you enjoy yours?
