Do It Once. Do It Well.

In a world that often celebrates the loudest voices, the Rotary Club of Gosford North's Pride of Workmanship Awards shines a light on something different... people who quietly get on with the job and do it exceptionally well.

Last night at Gosford Golf Club, five awards were presented to some truly inspiring individuals whose dedication, attitude and commitment make a real difference in their workplaces and communities.

It wasn't a night for celebrities. It was a night for people who turn up, roll up their sleeves and make things better.
Adding a touch of tradition and theatre to proceedings was local Town Crier, Stephen Clarke, who helped present the evening with his usual enthusiasm and flair.

We were incredibly proud to see Lasercraft Australia's General Manager, Peter Britton, recognised as one of the recipients.
Before Peter accepted his award, Rob from Lasercraft took to the microphone and shared a few words about the man many of us know as our boss, mentor and occasional problem solver. The praise was heartfelt and well deserved.

Then Peter did what Peter does best.
Rather than talking about himself, he spoke about the history of Lasercraft, the people who have built it, and the greater purpose that drives everything we do. It was very much a "this isn't about me" speech, which, ironically, is probably why the award suited him so well.

The evening was filled with stories of selflessness, perseverance and community spirit. A reminder that there are remarkable people all around us doing remarkable things, often without seeking recognition.

Last night, they got it.
And it was thoroughly deserved.

Third Umpires, Revenge Bowling and a BBQ Worth Playing for!

Our Weekend Community Access crew made the most of the public holiday with a day that had a little bit of everything... sport, controversy, teamwork and a very important BBQ.

The morning began at Bato Yard, where the basketball court became the stage for a fiercely contested game of Around the World. Shots flew from every angle, nerves were tested and when the final ball dropped through the hoop, Gareth stood victorious, claiming bragging rights for the day.

Not for long, though.
Next came cricket, and that's when things became serious. Very serious. Close catches were debated with the intensity of an Ashes Test match. Participants called for the third umpire on more than one occasion, convinced justice needed to be served.

Then there was Shah.
After Lachie managed to dismiss him earlier in the game, Shah spent the remainder of the innings plotting revenge. What followed was a sustained bowling campaign aimed squarely at one objective: getting Lachie out. Eventually, after enough deliveries to test anyone's patience, Shah got his man. The celebration suggested he'd just won the World Cup.

By the time we headed back, everyone had worked up an appetite. Shah took charge of the BBQ while the rest of the crew prepared salads, organised the outdoor area and got lunch ready. Before long, everyone was gathered outside enjoying a well-earned meal together in the sunshine.

The afternoon slowed down a little with some chalk drawing and relaxation. Well... most of it did.

Evie discovered that outlining staff members with chalk was far more entertaining than anyone expected and spent the afternoon creating what looked suspiciously like a crime scene investigation. Meanwhile, the rest of the group relaxed indoors, shared a few laughs and enjoyed a great end to a great day.

Just another public holiday filled with friendship, fun and enough sporting controversy to keep the third umpire busy for weeks.

Turning 21 is one of life's great milestones. Some celebrate with a cake, some with a party, and some, like Evie, celebrate while cruising the high seas.

While Evie was away enjoying her birthday adventure, the calendar quietly ticked over and she officially joined the 21 Club. The good news? Milestones this important deserve more than one celebration.

We're thrilled to have Evie back at Lasercraft so we could mark the occasion properly with friends, cake, laughter and a few well-earned birthday wishes.

Anyone who knows Evie knows she brings warmth, kindness and plenty of smiles wherever she goes. She's a valued part of the Lasercraft family and it was wonderful to celebrate this special moment with her.

Happy 21st Birthday, Evie. We hope your cruise was unforgettable, your birthday was spectacular and that the year ahead is filled with new adventures, great memories and every happiness.

Please join us in wishing Evie a very happy 21st birthday.

Strikes, Spares and a New Kingpin!

The Weekday Community Access crew rolled into Wyoming Ten Pin Bowling last Wednesday with two vehicles full of enthusiasm and enough competitive spirit to make the State of Origin look like a friendly disagreement.

For two games, the lanes became a theatre of triumph, heartbreak and the occasional bowling ball with ideas of its own. There were strikes that brought cheers, spares that earned high fives and plenty of appearances from the infamous six-seven split "six-seven".

Through it all, one bowler rose above the field.

Alannah claimed the highest score of the day and walked away with the unofficial but fiercely contested title of Kingpin, a crown earned through skill, determination and an apparent refusal to leave pins standing.

After the final frame, the crew traded polished lanes for sea breezes at Toowoon Bay. Lunch was a feast of BBQ chicken and fresh salad enjoyed under clear skies, followed by a lively game of park cricket where the batting was sometimes more enthusiastic than effective, but everyone remained remarkably polite about it.

Days like these are exactly why the Weekday Program continues to grow. Good company, healthy competition, plenty of laughs and the chance to create memories together.
At this rate, we may soon need a bigger bus. Alannah will probably insist on a bigger trophy cabinet as well.

May Employee of the Month – Lachy 🥳

Every workplace has that moment when a piece of machinery refuses to cooperate and a small crowd gathers around offering theories. It's a tradition almost as old as machinery itself.

Lachy has increasingly become the person who steps into those moments with patience, persistence and practical know how. Over the past year, his skills and confidence have grown remarkably, turning challenges into opportunities to learn and lead.

Lachy is Part of the Garden and maintenance Team and also the Volunteer Crew Team Leader. Lachy has become one of the most reliable people in the workshop! Consistent, self-reliant and dependable, he's the person you can count on to see a task through from start to finish.

His skills have grown enormously over the past year. In fact, when one of our Victa mowers developed a problem that left staff scratching their heads, Lachy rolled up his sleeves, worked through the issue and found the solution. It was a reminder that problem solving doesn't always come from the person holding the clipboard!

Part of that growth has come from working closely alongside Emmanuel, the recipient of our 2025 Leadership Mentor Award. The pair have formed a strong partnership, with Emmanuel sharing knowledge and encouragement and Lachy taking every opportunity to learn, develop and put those lessons into practice

What stands out most, though, isn't just the skills. It's the attitude. The quiet confidence. The willingness to help. The steady smile that suggests everything will work out just fine 🌟

Congratulations Lachy on being named our May Employee of the Month. It's thoroughly deserved and we're proud to have you as part of the team 👏

Biggest Morning Tea @ Ettalong Diggers

For weeks, our Lasercraft crew, alongside the indefatigable Garden and Maintenance team, have been operating with the sort of industrious energy that would make an ant colony look leisurely.

This wasn’t simply a matter of preparing stock for a market stall. It was craftsmanship with pride stitched into every corner. Candles poured with care, soaps and hand scrubs made by hand and trays of seedlings nurtured patiently into life. Every item on that table carried the fingerprints of hard work, growing skills, patience and a fair bit of soul.

And then there was the team itself, standing proudly beside the banner like seasoned market veterans. The smiles said everything. This wasn’t just a stall. It was a showcase of confidence, teamwork and the very best of what Lasercraft represents.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, picked up a treat, supported our creators and helped raise vital funds for Cancer Council NSW. Community spirit was alive and well.

A big shout-out to Ettalong Diggers and the Cancer Council for hosting this important event.

Anchors aweigh!

The Lasercraft Community Access crew plotted a course south with Lachy at the helm, storm clouds brewing lazily in the distance, Sydney waiting ahead like an old harbour town with stories to tell. They were ready to batten down the hatches if need be, to honour seafaring traditions.

A 17th-century ship, a destroyer, and even a submarine were all boarded and explored from bow to stern.

Then came Emmanuel and the captain’s hat.

He was not so much wearing it as inheriting command from it. One moment he was browsing exhibits; the next, he looked ready to steer the fleet through rough seas and questionable weather. Quiet authority. Calm confidence. It was the kind of presence that makes everyone instinctively stand a little straighter and check where north is.

Meanwhile, out on deck, Shah delivered the cinematic moment of the day. Arms stretched wide against the harbour skyline, he fully embraced a “King of the World” pose with enough commitment to make nearby tourists glance around for a hidden film crew.

And speaking of survival, by midday the stomachs staged a mutiny.
The crew answered the call with an alfresco feast at Darling Harbour, raiding Guzman y Gomez and Betty’s Burgers like seasoned sailors returning from months at sea. Chips disappeared at alarming speed, conversations bounced between laughs and stories and the afternoon drifted along as comfortably as the harbour tide itself.

The harbour had worn a grey coat and sulked all day, but at least it hadn't poured. It held off its tantrum for the drive home as the ever-dependable Lachy steered the bus back to base.

It might have been grey, but it was a wonderful day of camaraderie, culture, captaincy, and community.

Woy Woy Leisure Centre to the Ocean Beach Hotel
So good they named it twice, this reappears as a destination of choice once again. First stop, the leisure centre on Blackwall Road. The crew, 16 strong... “That’s a full squad.” Two buses were needed to contain this excitement. Everyone organised, towels and change of clothes packed and ready.

Bombs away and gentle ease-ins were the way to tackle entry.
“Who’s going on the slide?” shortly followed. Old-timer Maxy, winding back the clock and leading from the front and up the stairs they followed. All for one and one for all was the motto for the day. Knees knocking and excitement growing and then whoosh, down they went, one by one like a scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Hands stands were performed by Evie and Larry's lap times were comparable to the Thorpedo. It was at this moment the team noticed the hydro pool feeling lonely and in need of cheering up. Bubbles, warmth, and the feeling of being a Roman god for 20 minutes.

Hunger was setting in and it was time to head to the Ocean Beach Hotel. Footy on the big screens, live music and a pool table were noticed by every member of the crew. Scanning the menu vigorously as tummies grumbled. Meals would arrive one by one from the kitchen. These were interstate-trucker-sized portions and exactly what the doctor ordered.

It’s one thing to go to the pool or pub, but when you get to go with a bunch of friends, it pairs activities with camaraderie to create lasting memories.

Blowing off Steam at Narara

When you think of mini trains, my mind goes to electric models and plastic trees, but at the Narara Steam Model Co-op, they really mean steam, the type of steam that you’d see coming from old Puffing Billy. Fuelled by coal and the passion of train enthusiasts, water boils and creates pressure just like a full-size choo choo.

"All aboard" is less step on, and more straddle the sheep-sized carriage.

"Tickets please!" Old-school pricing system still in play, no tyre inflation needed, and entry is free. Two bucks fifty a ride, the crew thought at that price they’d get a return ticket.

Arms held at right angles, fists up, and a fierce yank of that cord, “Honk… honk…” and “Toot… toot…” and they were off.

Anyone for lunch and healthy competition?

Homemade pizzas back at LC station would fill the hole from the sheep straddling. LC carpark turned into Madison Square Garden with some one-on-one bball action, with its fair share of fadeaways and half-court attempts.

All in all, another successful Central Coast outing.
Good old-fashioned value, external combustion engines, pizzas made with love, with a pinch of friendly rivalry.

Thumbs up all round!

April’s Employee of the Month comes to us courtesy of consistent hard work and quiet focus… The Flaming Mullet. Business up front and bush party out the back, worn with pride usually reserved for premiership rings.

Out in the gardens, Shane operates like a well-oiled tractor… steady, reliable and not particularly interested in fuss. Give him a brief and he’s off, no detours, no dramas, just neat lines and a job done properly. The kind of worker every team quietly hopes to clone.

Off the tools, Shane loves both styles of music, Country and Western. Not just a listener either… a player. And when it comes to footy loyalty, Shane has solved the age-old dilemma by backing both the Tigers and the Rabbitohs… even going so far as to own the split jersey. Diplomacy, stitched in cotton.

Congratulations Shane… mowing lawns, strumming tunes and flying the flag for the iconic mullet.
