The cosiest cafe in the heart of Carnegie with living room style seating and so many unique matcha and coffee drinks to choose from.

We tried:
- Earl grey espresso (8/10) - perfect if you like speciality drinks that aren't too sweet, with the floral notes from the early grey pairing really well with their smooth espresso (comes with two shots of iced coffee)
- Homemade butterscotch matcha (9/10) - somehow the matcha and biscoff flavours don't overpower each other, and you can definitely tell that they don't skimp on the amount of matcha powder used!

Would definitely go back to try more of the menu 🙌

Simple and unassuming, it's easy to walk right past at first glance. Their menu epitomises the simple no frills beauty of Japanese cuisine. The batch brew here is undoubtedly the best coffee I've had in Melbourne (including milky brews and specialty coffees), due to the complex fruity flavours that linger on the pallette without feeling heavy. I savoured every last sip and cannot wait to go back.

As for the warabi mochi, although it listed as sold out on their online menu, was actually available upon requesting at the counter. Soft yet chewy, nutty but just sweet enough - this is a dessert that is great to share but probably would be too much and lead to flavour fatigue for one.

Overall, no regrets on lining up on a cold weekend morning for this cafe experience- would highly recommend requesting to be seated at the counter in their back room if ordering the ochazuke (next on my list to try!) since you can see them preparing the broth.
