✅ To-do list for a healthier life:

🥗 Eat well
💧 Drink plenty of water
🏃 Exercise regularly
🧠 See a therapist

One of these things still gets treated differently… and it shouldn’t.

We’ve become pretty good at understanding that our body needs support to function well.

We know food matters.
We know movement matters.
We know hydration matters.

So why do so many people still hesitate when it comes to looking after their mind?

Seeing a therapist isn’t only for when life is falling apart.

It’s for self-awareness.
It’s for growth.
It’s for support.
It’s for learning healthier ways to cope, communicate, manage stress, and understand yourself better.

A healthy life isn’t just about physical wellbeing.

It’s mental, emotional and relational too.

So maybe the real to-do list looks like this:

Look after your body.
Look after your mind.
Look after your life. 💜

We think Amy deserves to be recognised.

Every week, Amy works alongside children and families in our community, helping children feel heard, supported and understood — particularly children and families navigating neurodiversity, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation and family change.

Amy brings a genuinely child-centred approach to everything she does. She creates spaces where children can be themselves, families feel supported rather than judged, and neurodiversity is understood and celebrated.

Her work extends beyond the counselling room, with a strong focus on connection, inclusion, community and making sure families know they aren’t alone.

🏆 We would love for Amy to be nominated for the 2026 Child Friendly Excellence Awards in the Inclusion & Diversity category.

If Amy has supported your family, your child, or someone you know, we’d be incredibly grateful if you took a few minutes to nominate her.

Nominations close 25 September.

Because recognising the people who make a difference to children matters. 💜

💜 One of the biggest things this work teaches us?

It goes both ways.

In counselling and disability support, we might walk in thinking we’re there to help someone build confidence, learn a skill, work through something difficult, or take another step forward.

But the truth is…

they teach us too.

They teach us patience.

They teach us perspective.

They remind us not to take the little things for granted.

They show us what resilience actually looks like.

They make us laugh.

They challenge the way we think.

They remind us that progress doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

And sometimes, without even realising it, they change us just as much as we hope to help them change.

That’s one of the beautiful things about this industry.

It’s not about one person having all the answers and the other person receiving them.

It’s about connection.

It’s about learning from each other.

It’s about walking alongside someone and both coming away from the experience with something valuable.

At UnifiedLife, we’re incredibly grateful for every person and family who allows us into a small part of their world.

Because the benefits of genuine human connection will always work both ways. 💜

🌴 OUT OF OFFICE… WELL, MOSTLY 😂

The UnifiedLife admin team — Daniel & Amy — are taking a little break and will be away until Monday 7 September. 💜

We’ll still be checking emails and messages periodically, so we haven’t completely disappeared… we’re just giving ourselves permission to be a little slower at replying for a few days. 😄

And with Father’s Day this Sunday, we also want to wish all the dads, stepdads, grandads, father figures and the people doing the dad-job in all its different forms a very Happy Father’s Day. 💙

We hope you get a chance to spend the day with the people who matter, eat something good, put your feet up and — if you’re really lucky — avoid doing absolutely anything productive. 😂

Have an amazing Father’s Day weekend from Daniel, Amy & the UnifiedLife team. 💜

🎙️ WE’RE UP TO EPISODE 9! 💜

If you’ve been meaning to catch up on Parenting Beyond Labels, this is your sign. 😂

We’ve now released 9 episodes, packed with honest conversations about parenting, behaviour, connection, family dynamics, emotions, boundaries and all the messy bits that come with raising humans.

No perfect-parent nonsense.

No pretending families have it all together.

Just real conversations, practical ideas and a different way of looking at what might actually be going on underneath the behaviour.

Whether you’ve listened from Episode 1 or you’re only just finding us now…

there’s plenty to catch up on. 🎧

So grab a coffee, go for a drive, hide in the laundry for 20 minutes if you have to 😂… and have a listen.

💜 Parenting Beyond Labels
Now up to Episode 9 — don’t miss the latest episodes!

Because sometimes one different perspective can completely change the way we see our kids… and ourselves.

Having a counsellor for a mum… 😂

Teen: “Mum, I’m pi**ed off.”

Amy: “Okay… what do you think is underneath the anger?”

Teen: “More anger.”

Amy: “And underneath that?”

Teen: “THE URGE TO MOVE OUT.” 😑😂

There really should be a rule that counsellors have to leave their counselling skills at the front door.

Unfortunately for Amy’s kids…
she works from home sometimes. 😂💜

🔐 **“Will you tell someone what I say in counselling?”**

It’s a question we hear more often than you might think.

And it’s an important one.

Counselling needs to be a place where you can talk openly — without wondering whether every word is going to leave the room with you.

💜 Your conversations are treated with privacy and respect.

💜 Parents don't automatically receive a play-by-play of their child's session.

💜 You don't need to protect your counsellor from the messy, awkward or uncomfortable stuff.

💜 You’re allowed to take your time before you're ready to talk about something.

There **are limits to confidentiality**, particularly where there are serious concerns about safety, risk of harm, or where disclosure is required by law — and we explain these boundaries clearly.

Because privacy isn't about keeping secrets.

**It's about creating enough safety for honesty.**

And without safety, it's very difficult to build trust.

Without trust, it's very difficult to have the conversations that matter.

At UnifiedLife, we take that responsibility seriously.

Your story is yours.

**Our privilege is being trusted enough to hear it.** 💜

🧩 Hard doesn’t mean impossible. Sometimes it just means we haven’t found the right sequence yet.

Watching this talented young person take on a Rubik’s Cube and complete it in just over a minute was seriously impressive.

But from a counselling perspective, there’s something even better in it.

Life can feel a lot like a Rubik’s Cube sometimes. You make one move and something else seems to get messier. You get frustrated. You question whether you’re getting anywhere. You might even feel like giving up.

But progress often comes from staying with the problem, trying a different approach, learning from what didn’t work and trusting that each small move is getting you closer.

That’s what we love helping people discover at UnifiedLife.

Not that hard things suddenly become easy, but that with patience, persistence, support and the right strategies, we can become better equipped to work through them.

And when it finally clicks into place?

That feeling of “I did it” is worth every frustrating turn. 💪🧩

**The Rules Nobody Wrote Down**

Some family rules are obvious.

Put your shoes away.
Don’t eat on the couch.
Wet towels do not belong on the floor.

But some rules are invisible.

Don’t upset Mum.
Don’t talk about Dad’s house.
Be the easy child.
Don’t make things awkward.

In this episode, Amy explores loyalty conflict, split families, blended families, and the behaviours children may show when they are trying to belong in more than one emotional world.

A gentle reminder that children should never have to earn belonging by choosing who to love.

✨ **Sometimes the rain doesn’t ruin the adventure… it makes it.** 🌧️

Recently we had the opportunity to experience **Astra Lumina at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary** with one of our clients — and Mother Nature decided to add her own special effects. 😂

Rain falling through the lights.
Music through the rainforest.
Colours reflecting off the wet pathways.

It was absolutely **enchanting.** ✨🌿

And THIS is something we love about support work.

It isn’t always about appointments, routines or ticking off goals.

Sometimes growth happens while you're out **living.**

Trying something new.
Exploring somewhere different.
Building confidence in the community.
Sharing an experience.
Creating memories.

And learning that when things don't go *quite* according to plan...

**you don't necessarily have to turn around.**

Sometimes you put on the raincoat, keep walking and discover that the unexpected version was even better. 💜

A very wet, very magical and very memorable UnifiedLife adventure. 🌧️✨

**Life doesn't have to be perfect to be pretty bloody amazing.**
