π "So... what does a counsellor actually do?"
It's a question we get asked all the time.
Contrary to popular belief, counsellors don't "fix" people.
Because the truth is... people aren't broken. π
Counselling is about providing a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, challenges, relationships, goals, and experiences with someone who listens without judgement.
A counsellor can help you:
β¨ understand yourself better
β¨ develop healthy coping strategies
β¨ build confidence and resilience
β¨ improve relationships
β¨ navigate life changes
β¨ process difficult experiences
β¨ work towards meaningful goals
Many people also ask about the difference between a counsellor and a psychologist.
While there can be some overlap, psychologists are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions using evidence-based psychological interventions.
Counsellors focus on helping people understand themselves, build insight, develop practical strategies, and navigate life's challenges and personal growth.
The most important thing isn't the title....
It's finding the right person who makes you feel safe, heard, understood, and supported.
Amy's goal isn't to "cure" people.
Her goal is to walk alongside you, help you recognise your strengths, build the tools you need, and support you to become the best version of yourself.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing isn't having someone solve your problems...
It's having someone beside you while you learn how to overcome them yourself.
