Here I am!
I am in Spain 🇪🇸
I have been preparing for this for the last year and a bit, to walk along the Camino De Santiago.
I am beginning in Leon, and walking west towards Santiago for 320km.
I am beyond excited, a little nervous, open to what the Camino has for me, and keeping my heart open with no expectations!
The Camino De Santiago is traditionally known as a pilgrimage path, also known as the way of St James. People choose to walk a variety of routes across Spain, France and Portugal, all arriving at Santiago. People choose to do this for so many different reasons some religious, processing grief or change or something profound. Personal achievement and strength, adventure, introspection and healing, searching for purpose...the list goes on.
My reason is showing itself as I have worked towards this journey. I have no doubt that more will unfold over the 320km.
One of my big reasons is the path runs parallel to the milky way, this is also known as the way of the stars. It is along ley lines too, so feeling out the land and to walk with the thousands before me and those yet to come is pretty special.
I am walking this in honour of my grandma who passed at the beginning of the year. One of her favourite things to do was to go for a daily walk. I know she will be coming along with me.
Well! Buen Camino and sending love from the Spanish sunshine. 🌞
After another day of rest and adjustment tomorrow, off I go!
