Returning to Rhythm

It’s been one of those weeks. I’ve been unwell, things keep going wrong, and one little crisis seems to roll straight into the next. Amongst it all, I’ve been watching my nervous system. Feeling the pressure build. Noticing myself moving into fight mode, trying to tackle everything, push through and find solutions.

Until one more thing tipped the scales. Realising I have to redo my entire somatic group practicum was that moment (I had recorded it wrong). Suddenly, instead of fighting my way through, I felt myself shutting down.

Freeze. ❄️

It’s interesting to notice while I’m actually in it, rather than looking back once the dust has settled.

We spend so much time trying to feel better, get ourselves together and find our way back to that version of ourselves who has it all sorted. But there’s so much to learn in the messy middle. Not just when we’re calm, happy and feeling connected, but when we’re frustrated, overwhelmed, exhausted and thoroughly over it all. 😖

Maybe returning to rhythm is meeting ourselves exactly where we are, even if it’s is a bit of a sh*tshow. 💩

What do you notice about yourself when life starts piling up?

🌿it’s Earth Based Sunday, a wonderful time to get your cameras or phones out and take a mindful snap. 🤗

This week’s invitation.

🌿 Share one photo that says “SPRING” to you.

It could be frost, fungi, rain, a bird, a favourite tree, a sunrise, your morning walk, or just a little moment that made you stop and notice. There are no right or wrong photos here. Just little moments of connection with the Earth.

A couple of things.

🌱 One photo only please.

🌱 Landscape photos work best as they fit well on the page cover.

🌱 Pop it in the comments before 6pm (Sydney time).

The photo with the most love from our community will become our cover photo for the week. ❤️

At the end of Spring, all our weekly winners will go into a community vote, and the favourites will find a place in the 2027 Destination Sacred Grounds calendar. 🤩

As always, everyone with a winning seasonal photo receives a complimentary, (limit pp) and if you’ve shared a photo before that never made it to the cover, please share it again! There are so many beautiful photos that deserve another chance. ♥️

A big thank you to Heath Bridge

RETURNING TO RHYTHM 🌿

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this beautiful woman perform at our very own Wingham Town Hall on the weekend, alongside my sister.

I was blown away to discover a little more about Sam Buckingham this time around. I first listened to Sam a few years ago, when her beautiful, healing voice and songs about women’s empowerment really supported me through a particular time in my life. I’d drifted away from listening to her for a while, until recently, when I discovered her new album, Beautiful Machine.

Here I was, finding my way back to her music just as I’ve been deep in exploring the relationship between our inner and outer worlds, nature’s cycles, and the ways we are connected to the Earth.

Listening to her speak about honouring ourselves, our connection to the Earth and the changes we journey through as women felt super relevant to what I’ve been exploring lately. The more attention I give to these natural rhythms, the more connections I notice. And the more curious I become about what else we might discover when we slow down and pay attention.

What I also loved about the evening was watching Sam create the whole experience herself, from welcoming people at the door to the lighting, sound and, of course, her incredible singing. She has such a beautiful way of holding space for people, meeting you wherever you are in your own journey. Whether you’re navigating a breakup, trying to make sense of the world or finding your way through change, her music makes room for the many experiences of being WOMAN.

I think Sam is a wonderful example of a woman using her voice, creativity and lived experience to empower other women and I’m so grateful our paths have crossed again.

I captured a little snippet of her song A Love Letter to My Body and, with her permission, I’m sharing it here. ❤️ If you like Sam‘s work you can follow her here.

An Earth Reading

Over the last month, I’ve been exploring our inner and outer cycles, and the relationship between the two.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to bring this into my Earth Reading space at the Misfit Market.

I created a little basket filled with things I’d gathered and foraged from Muma Earth over the past month, and invited people to tune into themselves, place their hand into the basket and intuitively choose an object.

Then, holding that piece of Muma Earth close, I invited them to sit with a question and notice what arose.

The qualities of the object.
The thoughts and feelings it brought up.
Anything they noticed within themselves.

Some people felt an answer come straight away. Others needed a little longer to sit with it.

And that’s the beauty of this practice.

It’s not about finding the right answer.

It’s about slowing down enough to listen, and building a relationship between what’s happening within us and what’s happening around us.

You can try this yourself. Go outside, find something that calls to you, and see what it has to show you. 🌿

And a huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat, shared a reading, visited the stall, or simply said hello. And an even bigger thank you to the lovely lady who shared the day with me. ✨It was such a beautiful weekend of connection and community.🙏🏻

GROUNDED GATHERING

EDIT unfortunately I am cancelling this mornings gathering due to wet weather. Please keep an eye out for the next gathering, which will be a weekend in early December. 🙏🏻

Our next Grounded Gathering is coming up in a couple of days, and for anyone who hasn’t heard of it before, Grounded Gathering is an opportunity for our local community to come together and share space in one of our beautiful local parks, while practising Earth-based mindfulness. 🌿

We slow down, connect with the natural world around us, notice what’s happening within us and simply spend some time being present together.

There is nothing to achieve or fix. Just a little space to pause, breathe, notice and connect. So if you’ve been curious but haven’t made it along yet, perhaps this is your invitation. 💚

Come as you are. 🌿

And a little heads up for the end of the year…

As the end of the year gets a little busier, and the midweek gatherings have been quieter over the past few months, I’ve decided to combine the November and December Grounded Gatherings into one weekend gathering, after lots of requests for a weekend option.

I’ll share those details soon. 🙏🏻
