Your NDIS plan is personal, which also means it is not always easy to interpret.

What one person can use their funding for may not apply in the same way for someone else. It depends on the support, the context, and how it connects to everyday life.

šŸ’” Our latest blog, What Can I Actually Use My NDIS Funding For, was written to help break that down more clearly.

It looks at why funding can feel confusing, what questions to ask, and how AIIM Choices Plan Managers can support you when something in your plan does not feel straightforward.

A message from Kate, a mum in the NDIS space 🧔

What made us smile most is knowing she’s taken what she’s learned from Mary, one of our plan managers, and passed it on to other mums too. We’re grateful to be part of that ripple effect.

There has been a lot of talk about future NDIS changes this week, and we know that can make people feel nervous.

So let’s slow it down.

Your current plan funding is not being affected by future changes being discussed.

The NDIS is not being removed. What is happening is the scheme is being reviewed, with more focus on how funding is used, provider quality, eligibility, evidence, and keeping the NDIS sustainable for the future.

For participants, this does not mean you need to panic or rush into anything.

It simply means it is a good time to stay informed, ask questions, and make sure you have the right guidance before making decisions about your plan.

If you are thinking about a plan review or reassessment, or you are unsure what these updates may mean for your future plan, have a chat with your AIIM Choices plan manager.

We can help you understand what evidence may be relevant and what steps may make sense for your situation. 🧔

Service agreements can be easy to skim past, especially when there is already so much to think about.

BUT (yes, there's a huge but!) they are often the document that gives you the clearest picture of what has been agreed, what you can expect, and what to do if something changes.

Consumables is one of the most common budgets people ask about, especially in the middle of a chemist run.

A simple way to think about it:
It’s for everyday disability-related items you use regularly, not general household or grocery spending.

If you’re unsure about a specific item, check before you buy.

One of the hardest parts of the NDIS application process is the waiting.

What many people do not realise is that there may still be help available while you wait. From Medicare-funded allied health sessions to Carer Gateway and local community health services, there can be other pathways worth exploring in the meantime.

At AIIM Choices Plan Managers, we’re here to help you look at the bigger picture, understand your options, and support you from the very beginning. 🧔

For some people, change is hard. A new face, a new voice, a new way of doing things can be stressful. 😣

That’s where shadow shifts may help. A familiar support worker stays alongside the new support worker at the start, so the transition feels safer and more predictable.

šŸ’” Shadow shifts can be claimed in certain situations, but they need to be justified and linked to the participant’s needs.

If you’re not sure, ask the question early and we can help you work it out.

Good communication is what makes an NDIS plan feel easier. šŸ—£ļø

When you can ask a question and get a clear answer, the fear of ā€œgetting it wrongā€ settles down. It also helps catch small budget or support issues early.

šŸ’” If you’re unsure, ask your plan manager. If you need to ask again, that’s okay.

At AIIM Choices, we're happy to help you make sense of it.
