Chris Bourke is our dedicated Mental Health Support Worker, working alongside participants to strengthen daily living skills, navigate mental health challenges and work towards their personal goals.

Chris provides psychosocial rehabilitation to people with disability, supporting individuals to build independence, confidence and meaningful connections within their community.

He’s also known for being a “jack of all trades” and is often called upon to assist with maintenance tasks, renovation projects and first aid support.

A recent addition to the team is Chris’s mastiff, Luna, who he’s hoping to train as a future therapy dog.

A major upgrade to our children’s services building in 𝑾𝒐𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒂 has given young people with a disability the opportunity to learn essential life skills and strengthen their social connections.

A new $12,000 kitchen has been installed at the Moorefield Park Drive facility by volunteers, Chris Bourke and Eric Nigsch (pictured).

ConneXtions CEO, Toni Reeves, said the work replaced induction cooktops and makeshift benches that the service has relied on since opening five years ago.

“As the program has developed and our young people are moving to more independent living and food preparation, we needed to do better,” she said.

“We needed a real kitchen with stoves, an oven and storage space. This would significantly enhance the program’s ability to teach cooking, menu planning, budgeting and food preparation.”

It is hoped the upgrade will also enable ConneXtions to extend the program to other people who interested in developing basic cooking skills and preparing nutritious meals.

Our not-for-profit organisation is seeking community support to upgrade flooring to meet food safety regulations

The Australian Government has announced the rollout of new framework planning will be delayed until 1 April 2027.

This aims to allow more time to listen to feedback, and test changes to rules and processes.

📣 The Australian Government has announced several changes to secure the future of the NDIS.

The new way of doing planning – called new framework planning – is part of these changes. New framework planning will deliver fairer and more consistent budgets through a new support needs assessment process and budget method.

Following consultation with people with disability and their families, carers and advocates, the rollout of new framework planning will be delayed until 1 April 2027.

This will allow more time to:

👉🏼 listen to feedback

👉🏼 test proposed rules and processes

👉🏼 share more detailed information about the transition.

You do not need to take any action immediately.

Current NDIS eligibility and planning policies remain in place. Participants should continue to access their disability related supports and services as outlined in their existing NDIS plans.

We will let participants know in advance if anything affects them personally.
