One of the strongest messages Dr Arora hopes women take away is that they do not need to suffer in silence.

Many women live with v***al discomfort for years before seeking help. Not because it isn't affecting them, but because it feels too difficult to talk about. Some silently endure symptoms for years; others are repeatedly treated for thrush without lasting relief.

But ongoing v***al symptoms are not something you simply have to live with.

Dr Vivek Arora is a gynaecological oncologist with a special interest in v***al skin disorders and cancer prevention. “Women are too embarrassed to mention these symptoms to their doctors. Even in today’s day and age, there is still a reluctance to reach out and seek help for these problems - whether that’s because of embarrassment, fear, or uncertainty about what the symptoms might mean.

Unfortunately, that often translates into women not receiving care in a timely fashion, and living with symptoms far longer than they should have to.”
