Collagen doesn't come from a needle. It comes from your body and your body needs the right nutrients to build it.

Women in perimenopause and post-menopause are particularly vulnerable here. Protein requirements increase with age, and most women are significantly under-eating it without realising.

Without adequate protein, the skin simply has less to work with. That's why, before starting any treatment programme, I look at nutrition as part of the picture.

Laser Coring is a doctor-only treatment. At Thrive, that means Dr Grant only.

It works by placing precise channels of heat deep into the skin, stimulating collagen while giving the surrounding tissue space to repair and recover.

It can improve lines, wrinkles and laxity, particularly in the lower face, jaw and around the eyes, without injectables.

Downtime is around five days.

One session. Twelve weeks apart.

This treatment was a customised combination of UltraClear and Laser Coring, with Laser Coring targeted specifically to the jowl, jawline, lower face and marionette region.

What you're seeing is collagen remodelling. One medical-grade laser session, assessed and planned specifically for this patient's skin and her concerns.

Results vary between individuals. Images taken 12 weeks apart following one session of customised UltraClear and Laser Coring.

If you'd like to understand whether this approach may be appropriate for your skin, send us a DM with the word CONSULT or book via the link in our bio.

AlphaRet is back.

After a hiatus in Australia, this award-winning Vitamin A is back in stock at Thrive.

Vitamin A is one of the most evidence-backed ingredients for skin health. The challenge in perimenopausal skin is tolerating it.

Traditional prescription retinoids like tretinoin are highly effective but for skin that is already barrier-compromised, oestrogen-depleted and prone to reactivity, they often cause inflammation and sensitivity that outweighs the benefit.

AlphaRet by is what I recommend for most of my patients at this stage.

It bonds a retinoid directly with lactic acid into a single molecule. The result is retinoid activity delivered with significantly less irritation, alongside ceramides, niacinamide and squalane that actively support the barrier rather than deplete it.

Collagen stimulation, cellular renewal and texture improvement, without the inflammation that makes most retinoids unsuitable for this skin type.

Available at Thrive. Ask us about it at your next appointment.

There's a point in treatment where the foundations are stable and the skin is ready for more. Knowing when that is requires assessment, not assumption.

I'm looking for reduced reactivity, better resilience, and consistent skin behaviour between appointments.

When the skin is responding well to what we've put in place at the foundation level, that's when we can start to build upward into more active treatment with options like microneedling, IPL, peels and energy devices.

Moving too early is one of the most common reasons treatments underdeliver. The skin needs to be in the right condition to respond well.

When a patient sits down in front of me, I'm not looking at their skin the way they are.

They see what bothers them. I'm looking at what's driving it.

Redness and sensitivity can indicate inflammation, barrier dysfunction or mast cell instability. Premature lines or crepey skin might tell me diet is low in protein, or that oestrogen is beginning to drop. Acne on the jawline might point to testosterone sensitivity, insulin resistance or PCOS.

Then we talk. Sleep, stress, hormonal history, what's changed recently and when. By the time that conversation is complete, I have a clear picture. Not just of the skin, but of the person in it.

That's where the best treatment decisions come from.

Most women plan treatments around their social calendar. The ones who get the best results plan around the season.

Many of the treatments that deliver meaningful results, like UltraClear, laser, peels, microneedling, require you to avoid UV exposure during recovery.

In summer, that can be tricky. Skin healing in peak UV is more vulnerable to pigmentation, slower to recover, and less predictable in its response.

In the cooler months, UV levels drop, you're naturally spending less time in direct sun, and your skin has the best possible conditions to heal and respond.

This is why now is an optimal time to come and see us.
