Let's talk about nervous system dysregulation and why it doesn't always look like stress ๐
Our nervous system has two main settings: an accelerator, fight or flight, and a brake, rest and digest.
Normally, you use the accelerator when you need it, then ease back onto the brake once the pressure's passed.
When that process gets stuck, the body can stay on alert even without an actual threat in front of it, something often described as nervous system dysregulation.
It affects men and women, and it doesn't always look like stress.
It can show up as trouble switching off at night, waking early with your mind racing, digestive issues, getting sick more often, brain fog, or unexplained skin flare-ups.
It's rarely a single cause; usually a buildup of work pressure, poor sleep, unprocessed stress, and physical strain over time.
If this sounds like you, it's worth a proper conversation rather than treating each symptom separately.
