I couldn’t be more proud of you!

Your journey into this calling hasn’t been easy, but through it all you’ve shown incredible strength, dedication, resilience and heart. I have no doubt that the families you support will be so deeply blessed to have you walking alongside them.

You are compassionate, patient, understanding, and kind. These qualities that simply can’t be taught will make such a difference in the lives of those you serve.

I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you and to watch you flourish in this beautiful work. I’m also so grateful that our paths crossed and that I get to call you both a friend and a colleague.

Warning ‼️ - Birth Trauma

We recently celebrated our first son’s 7th birthday! These days his birthday and the weeks that follow fill me with joy but it didn’t start out that way.

Birth trauma is a funny thing- I guess it’s like a lot of other trauma. From the outside you can be smiling but internally it’s a whole other story.

Before reading on, please know that whilst this is a part of my journey, it is not something that I take in to my everyday life or work. It’s an experience I went through that is sadly not uncommon. I share not because of my grief which I have worked hard to process, I share this because it may help others.

If you ever feel like you are alone, if you need some support or a listening ear reach out.

There are also a multitude of services available for supporting families through birth trauma and postpartum including Gidget Foundation & PANDA.
You can also contact your local hospital for a birth debrief or to get a copy of your birth records.

Birth by design is made to take us to the very edge of our depth only to show us how much deeper we can go. Given the chance, it shows us just how incredible we truly are.

In just a matter of Days, Hours or sometimes Minutes it strips us down and abolishes who we are, then just as quickly rebuilds us back up into a Mother, whether it be for the first time or the fifth time. Each birth teaches us something new. It softens us while simultaneously strengthening us to be the mother our children need us to be.

I am obsessed with this photo from Jess’ Birth.
Right before my eyes I saw her meet a wall within herself she was certainly was falling on top of her and then I saw her smash that wall to pieces as she mustered up every shred of strength & determination she possessed an she fiercely welcomed her precious second born.
Then I saw her melt and soften 🥹💕

The strength of women will never cease to amaze me.
