A little change… but one that means a lot. 💙

Over the next week, you’ll notice Sierra Kids gradually becoming Orbit Kids.

When I started Sierra Kids, the name represented climbing mountains alongside families navigating disability. But over time, I realised the name didn’t really explain what I do, and I often received enquiries for supports I don’t actually provide.

Orbit Kids feels much more like me 🌀

The child is at the centre, and my role is to work around them—supporting parents, coordinating with therapists, early learning centres, support workers, carers, educators and everyone else in their world, helping everything work together.

Many families don’t realise that children under 9 on the NDIS can access Key Worker services. These services are designed to support not only the child, but also the parents and carers, helping them understand and make the most of their child’s plan.

This means I can continue doing what I love:
✨ Helping families understand and navigate the NDIS.
✨ Coordinating supports and connecting the dots.
✨ Assisting with service agreements and finding the right providers.
✨ Providing practical strategies, home programs and developmental support.
✨ Coaching and empowering parents so they feel confident supporting their child every day.

It’s still me. Still the same passion. Still advocating for inclusion and access, and helping families feel less overwhelmed.

Just with a name that better reflects the work I do every day.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Sierra Kids. I’m so excited for this next chapter as Orbit Kids begins. 💙

This week in Orbit Kids 🪐

This week I have:

🌀Supported families to build their vision of inclusion for their child’s schooling future
🌀Written an early learning play based program for a child to be used by parents
🌀Read many FCAs, therapy reports, carer impact statements and logs of care to ensure all evidence aligns for NDIS assessments
🌀Brainstormed visual systems and independence building strategies for a family to reduce carer stress
🌀Investigated consumable purchases that fit criteria for NDIS core budgets

One of the hardest things about explaining Key Worker supports is that no two weeks ever look the same!

A huge part of my role is reducing stress for families, building parent confidence and capacity, creating practical supports, and helping children participate meaningfully in everyday life.

🌀Written a cognition-building program for a child to be used by parents and support workers
🌀Built the capacity of a parent to support their child’s inclusion at their local state school
🌀Created a procedural-based program with visual supports to reduce stress at home
🌀Helped several families prepare for NDIS reviews
