This is why regular skin checks are so important. 🔎

This spot was identified during a patient’s routine skin check. To the naked eye, it didn’t appear obviously suspicious and didn’t display the classic features many people associate with melanoma.

It’s an important reminder that not all skin cancers look “typical,” and some can be subtle. A thorough skin examination, along with dermoscopic assessment, can help identify lesions that warrant further investigation - just like this one. Thankfully, this lesion was detected early and subsequently treated in clinic by Dr Anthony Rixon.

The second image was captured using a DermLite 5 dermatoscope to assist with closer examination of the lesion.
