In all seriousness though… private health insurance and access to the “best” doctors, practitioners, facilities or care doesn’t automatically guarantee long term health or wellbeing.
Sometimes the stress of constantly trying to afford it all can become part of the burden itself. 🫠
If you’re generally well, investing your time, energy and money into high quality food and the foundational pillars of health is one of the most important things you can do for your long term wellbeing.
The foundations really matter and most of them are surprisingly simple:
🫐 real food with minimal processing, sprays and chemicals
🥑 balanced nutrition with adequate protein, fats, carbohydrates, fibres, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants
💧clean, mineral-rich water, fresh air and regular sunshine
🌳 daily movement and time in nature
😴 restorative sleep and healthy circadian rhythms
🧠 nervous system regulation and stress management
💞 meaningful connection, supportive relationships and community
⚠️ reducing unnecessary toxic load and environmental exposures where possible
😁 purpose, play, joy and enjoyment in life
As a naturopath, I absolutely value good healthcare, testing, supplements and professional support when needed. But I also think we need to be careful not to overcomplicate health, skip over the foundations, or make health feel like something only available to the wealthy or privileged.
Many of the things humans need most are simple, timeless and deeply innate. We already know them in our bones. 💚
