A little dance for something that doesn't get much attention ...
Your compression garment.
Whether you wear compression to reduce swelling, or maintain the results you've worked hard to achieve, compression only works when it still provides the right level of support.
Over time, garments gradually lose their elasticity through daily wear, washing, and natural fabric fatigue. Even if they look fine, they may no longer be delivering the compression you need.
Signs it may be time for a review:
✔ Your garment feels looser than it used to
✔ Swelling is becoming harder to manage
✔ The fabric is stretched, worn, or damaged
✔ It's been 4-6 months since replacement (depending on wear)
✔ Your body measurements have changed
A compression review isn't just about ordering a new garment.
It's an opportunity to check that your current compression is still appropriate, reassess swelling, review your self-management strategies, and ensure you're getting the best possible outcomes.
If you're unsure whether your compression is still doing its job, reach out to our team.
We believe the most important part of your lymphoedema management is the support you wear every day. 💙
