Oh, my gosh! I make so many changes. Creamier cleansers, richer moisturizers (dry skin 4-eva) and ‘ze intensification of exfoliation.

Fall is still officially a few weeks away, but unofficially for me it’s starting right meow…

I’m guessing that your opinion of fall partly depends on where you fall (ha ha) on the Pumpkin Spice/Halloween spectrum, am I right? You’re either delighted by the idea of cooler weather, cozy sweaters and crunchy autumn leaves crackling beneath your ankle boots, or you’re supremely bummed about it.

I’m somewhere in the middle…

At heart, I will always be a summertime baby, but as I get older (and grow more intolerant of being hot and sweaty), I’ve learned to love fall. And now I’m into it, man!

Here are the fall changes I’m making to my skincare routine…

Falling temps turn the normally dry areas on my cheeks even drier, so creamy cleansers become a must. I plan to pick up a tube of Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Cleanser to help with that this week.

I also need to add a rich moisturizer up in the mix.

Craniofacial growth patterns in mouse models for Apert syndrome. Apert syndrome is caused by two neighboring mutations on Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2). Multimodal imaging and segmentation was used to visualize and quantitate overall morphology of soft tissues (gray), skull (yellow), inner ear (purple), nasopharynx (pink) and globe of the eye (green) in Fgfr2+/S252W Apert syndrome mice and Fgfr2+/P253R Apert syndrome mice at embryonic day 17.5 (E17.5) (left) and on the day of birth (P0) (right) (Fgfr2+/S252W mice are shown).

Hello, friend. Good morning! Only two more sleeps till October. That’s just crazy to me.

So I was outside watering the plants on my deck this morning, a.k.a. the Lady Sanctuary, and I’m trying to figure out what the heck I’m gonna do with that space later this fall and winter… The plants are still hanging on, but they won’t be much longer.

Every summer I plant a lush little cat-safe garden back there (it’s on the deck off my bedroom, which is above the deck that has the Tabby Command Center), and every year I just let the plants slowly wither through the winter, mostly because I don’t hang out much on the deck when it’s cold, not that it really gets THAT cold in the Bay Area, but still… Cold enough to not want to be out there.

But it’s kind of depressing when I open my bedroom curtains around Christmas and see a bunch of sad, dead foliage, so maybe if I jooj-ed it up with some fall and winter plants, I’d be motivated enough to take care of them? I dunno… I don’t know anything about gardening in winter.

Olive oil

Olive oil is the most common vegetable oil in the world, one of the national products of Greece, Italy and Spain. Since ancient times, it has been used for cooking, as well as in religious rites. The "homeland" of this oil is Spain. 40 percent of all global supplies are made in Andalusia, and Madrid even has an International Olive Council, which oversees almost the entire world turnover of olive oil.

Corn oil

Another oil popular in Russia is corn. It is characterized by a high content of vitamin E, which is two times more in it than in olive or sunflower oil. Vitamin E is useful for the endocrine system, pituitary, adrenal gland and thyroid gland. Another advantage of corn oil is its high burning point, that is, it will begin to smoke and burn only at a very high temperature.

Corn oil has almost no smell, taste or contraindications, therefore it is ideal for sauces, dressings, it is also good to add it to vegetable juices - carrot, for example, should be drunk only with cream or vegetable oil, since vitamin A is not absorbed in our body in pure form.

Walnut oil

A rather unusual vegetable oil that many of us are not used to eating is walnut oil. It contains a lot of useful elements: vitamins A, C, E, B, P, unsaturated fatty acids and various other trace elements. Walnut oil is rightfully an important component of many diets: it is easily absorbed and serves as a good source of energy. Its disadvantage is the short shelf life, after which it begins to acquire a bitter taste and unpleasant odor.

In Georgian cuisine, meat and poultry dishes are prepared with him. Chefs do not recommend adding walnut oil immediately before cooking - its rich nutty taste will disappear at high temperatures, so use it only as a dressing.

Grape seed oil

There are two types of grape seed oil: unrefined, which is used in cosmetology, and refined, for the preparation of dietary dishes. Due to its unique ability to enhance the aroma of other ingredients, grape seed oil is an excellent dressing for vegetable and fruit salads.

Studies by Australian scientists have proven that grape seed oil is good for the nervous system. In addition, it contains a lot of antioxidants and vitamins.

Many girls use this product for cosmetic purposes: oil helps to make the skin smooth and moisturized, eliminate dryness and even out complexion. It can be added to any home mask or applied in a thin layer to the face with a cotton pad.

The Coywolf turned three on Saturday, and I’m still processing the fact that she’s a full-on toddler.

Mind you, I know she’s technically been a toddler for a while, but El Hub and I still call her “Babytime” because… Well, no reason. That’s just what we do.

I was looking at old pictures of her this morning, and every single year those chubby little cheeks and baby features seem to get further and further away…

It’s a joy to watch children get older, but every birthday breaks my heart a little because the older and bigger she gets, the closer she gets to leaving the nest, which, I know, kids eventually do. I did it. Everybody does it. I just don’t know if my heart will ever be strong enough to let her go, you know?

Now that she’s three — man! — she’s so much fun. It’s really cool to see her personality blossoming. She’s generally a very cheerful and sweet little girl (I can’t believe I just called her a little girl), and she can be shy sometimes around new people, but after she warms up, she’ll happily offer hugs and kisses.

Tabs knows it isn’t technically fall yet, but he’s a trendsetter, not a trend follower, as you know, so he busted out the newest addition to his award-winning fall feline fashion line, the Fall 2018 Autumnal Awesomeness Cat Collar Corsage.

His assistant gave him the idea for it the other night while they studied the colors on the hill at sunset.

He quickly created a mock-up and wore it this morning on his walk.

He sent these pics to his publicist, Malu, who lives next door, and Malu thinks Tabs has another mega smash feline fashion hit on his paws.

Happy almost fall. 🍂😊

The other day I covered up what the beauty/fashion world calls my “imperfections” — the freckles on my cheekbones, acne scars on my cheeks, the chicken pox souvenir in the center of my forehead that I got when I was three — with big ol’ heart-shaped glitter from MAC, and you know what occurred to me?

WE SHOULD BE DOING THIS, LIKE, ALL THE TIME. Screw Face Tune and Photoshop. This is much so cooler.

Weirdly enough, these glitter hearts, which are even more epic in person, do a bang-up job of sticking to my skin. I wore them all day long without any glue (just on top of my usual foundation and powder), and only two hearts fell off.

We should totally make this a thing. You down?!

Karen

First of all, happy International Women’s Day from me and the Coywolf! Here are a few inspiring stories of women making a difference in our world today.

Much less interestingly, all of the awesome Revlon black hair elastics I started using a while back have disappeared into the mysterious black hole located inside my house, so I went to Target to replace them and found these…

SERIOUSLY! They’re huge. I don’t know if they’ll be able to handle my mane, but we shall see. Side note: I wonder what Jason Momoa thinks of them, ha ha ha!

Lastly, I desperately need to paint my nails! Having my nails done always makes me feel like I’ve got my sh*t together and makes the world around me seem less chaotic. (Am I the only one?) Gonna try out this new brand by Sally Hansen called Mega Strength.

How are you (and your nails) doing on this beautiful Friday? What’s new?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF! 😄
