It was never really about feet. šŸ‘£
Recently I’ve shared a lot about our foundation:
Toes. Calves. Balance. Movement.
But if I’m honest, this has never really been about feet alone.
It’s about what they make possible.
Foot health is about so much more...
It’s about mobility, balance, and walking confidently through life.
It’s about having the foundations to keep doing the things we love as we age.

As I've grown older, I've found myself thinking less about fixing pain or improving posture for its own sake.
And much more about the kind of life I want to be living twenty or thirty years from now.
I want to walk on beaches. Hike through national parks. Travel.
Get down on the floor to play with future grandchildren one day... and get back up again with ease.
I want to keep saying yes to adventures, rather than quietly wondering whether my body will cope.

A lot of that has been inspired by watching my own mum. She's 72.
In recent years she's walked both the Camino de Santiago in Spain and the Kumano Kodo in Japan.
She still heads out each week for Parkrun.
She'll happily tackle challenging hiking trails with the whole family.
And now, watching her with my little Jack has been one of life's greatest gifts.
She gets down on the floor to play with him. Carries him. Crawls around beside him.
Moves with a confidence and freedom that so many people lose years, even decades earlier.

She taught me something...
Ageing is inevitable. But how we age is influenced by the choices we make every day.
Of course, none of us can control everything.
Life happens. Bodies change.
But I do believe we can influence far more than many of us realise.
Through everyday movement. Through body awareness.
Through understanding how our bodies are designed to move.
Through caring for the systems that support us, including our fascia.

Our feet are one of the most overlooked places.
They are our foundation… Every step. Every walk. Every hike. Every staircase.
Every time we catch ourselves before a fall.
Every time we confidently step onto uneven ground.

Our feet, fascia and movement patterns are connected in ways we are only beginning to understand.
This is especially important for anyone who has experienced chronic pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, or simply feels disconnected from their body.

I care so deeply about helping people reconnect with their feet.
I want more people to keep moving, exploring, and doing the things they love for as long as possible.
That's why I created the 28 Day Foot Foundations Challenge.
Not to create perfect feet. But to build greater awareness, mobility, balance and strength from the ground up.

If you've been following along over the past few weeks and something has resonated...
If you've found yourself looking at your feet a little differently...
Or you've been thinking, "Maybe now is the time..."
I'd love to have you join us.

The 28 Day Foot Foundations Challenge begins Wednesday Morning, and registration closes tomorrow.
If it feels like the right time for you, I'd be honoured to have you with us.
You can find all the details and register via the link in the comments.

Because we're not just caring for today's body.
We're caring for the body we'll be living in twenty years from now. ā¤ļø

A hiking trip changed the way I thought about fascia & feet šŸ‘£
Over Christmas in 2021, Brody and I spent four days hiking through the incredible Carnarvon Gorge.
More than 60 kilometres.
But it wasn’t the distance that stayed with me…
It was what our feet were being asked to do.
We weren’t walking on smooth footpaths or flat surfaces.
We were crossing riverbeds, stepping over rocks, climbing natural stairs, and constantly adapting to uneven ground.

Every step required:
🦶 Balance
🦶 Awareness
🦶 Strength
🦶 Adaptability

When we arrived home, we went straight back to one of our favourite rituals… a sunrise swim and walk along the beach.
And something felt different.
The soft sand that usually challenged us felt almost effortless.
The steep climb back up the beach access didn’t feel like hard work.
It felt like we were gliding.

Brody and I looked at each other and both said:
ā€œWhat's happening?ā€
Neither of us had been doing foot exercises.
We hadn’t been intentionally releasing fascia or strengthening our feet.
The only thing that had changed was that for four days, we had asked our feet to do what they were designed to do.
Adapt. Respond. Balance. Stabilise.
It made me realise how much our modern environments have changed the way our feet move.

Most of us spend our days walking on flat, predictable surfaces… floors, footpaths, concrete and tiles.
Our feet become really good at one type of movement…
But the smaller muscles responsible for balance, stability and adapting to different surfaces often don’t get the same opportunity.

And just like any other part of the body…
If we don’t use it, we gradually lose some of that capacity.
Our bodies are incredibly adaptable to new movements and habits.
When we give them the right input, they respond.

This experience in Carnarvon Gorge changed the way I looked at feet forever.
It’s why I’m so passionate about helping people reconnect with their foundations… not through complicated exercises, but through small, consistent fascia-based practices that remind the body how to move well.

If you’d like to explore this with me, the 28-Day Foot Foundations Challenge begins Wednesday 15 July. šŸ‘£
Over four weeks, we’ll gently wake up the feet, improve awareness, and build stronger foundations for balance, posture and movement.

Can you shake hands with your feet? šŸ‘£

I know... it sounds like a strange question.

But I mean literally.

Take a moment, pick up one of your feet and slide one finger between each of your toes, reaching deep into the webbing… almost like you’re holding hands with your foot.

You may not be able to fit all of your fingers in at once.
And that’s okay. Don’t force it. Don’t stretch.
Just observe.

What do you notice about the space and movement between your toes?

For many of us, our feet have spent years tucked away in shoes, rarely getting the chance to move, sense, and interact with the ground.
But our feet weren’t meant to be hidden away and forgotten.

They were designed to move, sense, and adapt with every step we take.

Over time, our feet adapt to the way we use them (and don’t use them!). This can mean losing some of the natural movement and awareness they once had.

And because our feet are our foundation, these changes can influence the way our ankles, knees, hips, and spine move and adapt.

This matters because our feet play an important role in balance.

As we age, maintaining our ability to sense the ground beneath us, adjust our weight, and respond to changes in our environment becomes increasingly important for staying steady, confident, and independent.

This simple exercise isn’t about fixing anything.
It’s about reconnecting.

Taking a moment to notice the part of your body that carries you through life every single day. šŸ‘£

I’d love to know...

Could you shake hands with your feet?
What did you notice?

If this simple exercise sparked some curiosity about your own feet, I’d love to have you join me for my Foot Foundations Challenge starting this Wednesday. šŸ‘£

We’ll spend the next 4 weeks exploring the role our feet play in movement, balance, and how we connect with the ground beneath us… using your Block / Starter Kit as a tool to help create more awareness and change.

If you’re ready to explore your feet in a whole new way, you can find the details here: https://events.humanitix.com/28-day-foot-foundations-challenge

🌱 Let’s make sense of our feet.
The part of our body we stand on all day... yet often squeezed into shoes without a second thought.
When was the last time you really looked at your feet?
Not to judge them or wish they looked different.
Just to take a moment to feel and notice them.

They're the only part of your body designed to meet the ground, connecting you with every step you take... yet when we want to move better, we rarely think to start with our feet.

One thing I've noticed over the years of teaching is that when someone arrives at a workshop, my eyes almost always go straight to their feet.
Not because feet tell the whole story…
but because they often give me clues about the bigger picture, and where the body may be adapting or compensating.

Our feet are our foundation.
And when they aren’t moving and supporting us as well as they could, the body does what it’s designed to do… it adapts.
Adaptations can be helpful in the short term, but over time they can contribute to changes we notice as stiffness, discomfort, reduced mobility, or recurring injuries.

I'd love to help you see your feet a little differently.
Not as something to squeeze into shoes each day...
But as an incredible part of your body that deserves a little more attention.

šŸ‘£ Try this:
Stand up and notice how your feet naturally land on the ground.
(No cheating by trying to stand ā€œproperlyā€ šŸ˜„)
Does one foot point in a slightly different direction to the other? Do you lean more to one side?

Now look at your toes.
Are they naturally spread apart, or do they look a little squished together?

And where do you feel most of your weight?
More towards the front of your feet, or more grounded through your heels?
Don't try to change anything just yet. Just notice.

I'd love to know...
Was there anything that surprised you when you took a moment to look at your feet? šŸ‘£

Well… hello šŸ‘‹
It’s been a while. May the algorithm be kind. šŸ˜…
I’ve been thinking about how to write this post for a while, but the truth is there hasn’t really been a strategy behind my absence.
I didn’t quit social media.
I just slowly disappeared into an eventful season of life.
This year has been full in all the best and messiest ways.
Moving house twice, teaching classes, spending time with my very energetic toddler, and continuing to dive deeper into the body and how it works. Fascia through the feet, the eyes, sound therapy, and now stepping into training with Human Garage has taken me even further into understanding how much potential we have to feel better in our own bodies.
Somewhere in all of that, I stopped showing up here.
Not because I didn’t care, but because my attention was needed elsewhere.
And if I’m honest, I’ve never been someone who naturally fits into the rhythm of trends, constant posting, or trying to keep up with algorithms.
I’m more interested in the quieter work. The conversations with people about why their calves are tight, why their body feels the way it does, and what actually helps create change.
Less viral. More useful.
So this is me easing back in.
No big content plan. No pressure to post constantly. Just sharing things as they feel meaningful and hopefully helpful for anyone dealing with pain, stiffness, or simply wanting to understand their body a little better.
If you’re still here after my accidental disappearing act, hello again šŸ’› It genuinely means a lot.
Quick question… where do you feel it most right now
feet, calves, hips, back, or neck?
I’ll share a simple fascia release tip for the most common area.
