BEHIND THE SEEN

BEHIND THE SEEN Behind the Seen research and implement strategies which heighten awareness and promote conversation.

There are 400,000 emergency services workers across Australia, including 200,000 volunteers. Current statistics indicate 1 in 10 will experience symptoms of post traumatic stress related to critical incidents. Research has shown that early intervention and informed support networks may reduce the severity of stress symptoms and aid recovery. Behind the Seen train emergency services personnel to wo

rk together to build resilience, increase support and reduce the stigma of mental health challenges. We engage with local and national emergency services communities, lobby for policy change and design and implement programs to improve the health and well-being of emergency services personnel and their families

Former officers who blew the whistle on NSW Police's toxic culture have welcomed an independent report "validating" their experiences.

The NSW Police independent culture review found unacceptable levels of bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment within the force.

Former senior sergeant Mel Cooper says she is thankful to have been involved in the review.

Bryson Dimovski was 14 years old when he was killed in a hit and run at Warners Bay on 28 July 2023. He was riding his e-scooter on the shoulder of Macquarie Road when he was struck by a driver who was distracted, not watching the road, and drifted into the breakdown lane.

That driver stopped, but then ran from the scene and failed to call for help. Instead, he hid his car, arranged to be picked up, and searched online to avoid the consequences.
Bryson was not found for more than seven hours. He lay alone in a ditch on a cold winter’s night.

The undersigned petitioners ask the Legislative Assembly to call on the Government to increase penalties for failing to stop after fatal crashes, treat those who flee like those who refuse testing, reclassify Bail Act 2013, section 52AB as a show cause offence, and remove Intensive Correction Orders.

Leaving the scene should never benefit an offender. It prevents mandatory drug and alcohol testing, delays accountability, and can reduce charges. That is not justice. It is an incentive to run.
Bryson was not the first, and without reform, will not be the last.
Please stand with us and sign this petition.
