Kirsten Tremlett-Naturopath, Massage Therapist & Retreat Facilitator

Kirsten Tremlett-Naturopath, Massage Therapist & Retreat Facilitator I have over 25 years experience as a Naturopath & Massage Therpaist
My approach is simple and effective.

I will provide you with the understanding of what influences are affecting your overall health, offer practical advice, and provide you with the knowledge and tools to enable you to achieve and maintain optimal well-being. My emphasis is on treating the person, not the disorder, so treatment is tailored for each individual. I use Iridology and VEGA testing as diagnostic tools to determine what und

erlying influences are compromising your health which I treat accordingly until health and happiness are restored. Treatment modalities include: Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Flower Essences, Emotional Release Techniques (ERT's), Allergy Testing, Weight Loss and Detox Programs, and relevant dietary advice. I offer Relax, Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage as well as Shiatsu, Reflexology and Body Scrubs at my home clinic as well as providing a mobile massage service. I also have an infra red sauna which is available to use upon request. Rebates are available on remedial massage treatments for those in private health funds.

HAIR LOSS - Causes & Treatment options

Hair loss can be genetic in both s*xes, but hair thinning or shedding is a very common complaint, especially in peri/menopausal women 👩‍🦰

Some of the CAUSES include:

* Stress, trauma, post partum
- contributing to lack of sleep and high cortisol levels

* Nutrient deficiencies- particularly low iron stores, low Vit D, B12, or zinc

* Insufficient protein intake- amino acids are the building blocks for our hair

* Autoimmune conditions- especially Hashimoto's/hypothyroiditis, & Lupus

* Hormonal imbalances such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) & amenorrhoea (lack of menstruation), androgen excess.

* Rapid weight loss leading to nutrient deficiencies or being undernourished

* Certain medications such as the oral contraceptive pill, beta blockers, and statin drugs

* Excessive alcohol consumption & smoking increase inflammation and decrease circulation to hair follicles

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

It may take up to 3 months for hair to regrow with the right treatments so be patient!

Try the following;

👉 Wash hair regularly (at least 3 x week) to prevent oil building up and yeast overgrowth on the scalp which slows hair growth

👉 Massage your scalp when shampooing to stimulate circulation and hair follicle regrowth

👉 Rub Rosemary essential oil into the scalp to further stimulate circulation to the hair follicles

👉 Certain anti-dandruff shampoos can help kill fungal overgrowth on the scalp, which can cause hair loss/damage

👉 Going gluten-free (and maybe dairy-free), can help some people, especially if you have an autoimmune condition

👉 Ensure you are eating adequate quality protein with each meal- aim for 30g per meal

👉 Post partum ladies should supplement with collagen peptides, iron and zinc

👉 Red light therapy on the scalp can be effective in improving circulation to hair follicles

👉 Microneedling, PRP and laser treatment may help also if other treatments fail.

7 TIPS FOR A GREAT NIGHT'S SLEEP 💤

1. Eat dinner no later than 3 hours before bed - otherwise, your body is busy digesting food instead of winding down for sleep.

2. Raising your core body temperature 90 minutes to 2 hours before bed can set your internal thermostat at the optimum temperature for a sound slumber.
Taking a hot bath or a sauna session will help you to fall asleep easily.

3. Make sure your bedroom is dark and cool for a comfortable sleep.
A light room won't allow your body to produce melatonin to fall asleep easily, and overheating in bed will cause you to wake up.

4. Breathwork exercises can help us fall asleep more easily.
Try 4-7-8 breathing, where you breathe in slowly for 4 counts, hold the breath for 7 counts, and exhale for 8 counts.
If this is too difficult, just extend the exhalation by a few counts from the inhalation (so 3 counts in, 6 counts out).
This has a very calming & sedating effect on the nervous system.

5. Do any cardio or vigorous exercise earlier in the day, not in the evening. Intense exercise produces adrenalin which stimulates us, instead of calming us.

6. There are various herbs and nutrients that can help promote a restful sleep.
These include Ashwagandha, Passionflower, Hops, Lavender, Lemon balm, Valerian, Saffron, Magnesium glycinate, Tryptophan or Melatonin.
Herbs can be taken in tea or tincture form.

7. Clear the mind of any clutter before bed.
If you have a busy mind or a list of things to do the next day, write them down or journal.
Switch off the 'chatter' by reading a book, listening to an audio book, some relaxing music, or a guided sleep meditation (yoga nidra).
These are all more effective than counting sheep! 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑

DO YOU HAVE LEAKY GUT?

Leaky gut, or intestinal permeability, is a condition where the intestinal lining becomes damaged and develops gaps, allowing toxins, bacteria, and undigested food particles to "leak" into the bloodstream.
This triggers widespread inflammation, immune responses, and symptoms like chronic bloating, digestive issues, fatigue, food sensitivities, and joint pain.

Other symptoms may include:

👉 Abdominal bloating, gas, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation/diarrhea.
👉 Chronic fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, anxiety, depression.
👉 Acne, eczema, rosacea, skin rashes.
👉 Food allergies or sensitivities, poor immunity, autoimmune conditions.

SO WHAT CAUSES IT??

✅️ Pesticide exposure like glyphosate on our food.
✅️ Diet - excess sugars, gluten, seed oils, processed foods.
✅️ Medications - especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or aspirin.
✅️ Chronic stress & excessive alcohol consumption, smoking.
✅️ Imbalances in our gut bacteria (dysbiosis) or gut infections from parasites, viruses, etc.

HOW TO TREAT LEAKY GUT:

Apart from removing the offending foods, medications, and pesticides, it's important to repair the gut lining to stop this cycle of inflammation reoccurring.

There are a few herbal and nutritional supplements that are very effective in healing intestinal permeability but my favourites include glutamine powder, licorice root, aloe vera gel, turmeric, slippery elm powder, and zinc.

Please reach out if you experience any of these symptoms and would like help with treatment & restoring a healthy happy gut.
After all, all healing begins in the gut!

A few signs of oestrogen deficiency that shouldn't be ignored.

1. SKIN CHANGES:
Sagging tissues, dry skin, wrinkles, change in skin tone & elasticity, brown/age spots.

2. NEUROLOGICAL CHANGES:
Brain fog, poor concentration & word recall, memory loss, sleep disturbances, mood changes, vertigo or dizziness, migraines, numbness or crawling skin.

3. MUSCULOSKELETAL PROBLEMS:
Joint pain & stiffness-often knees & hips.
Tendonitis, tendon & ligament tears, cartilage degradation.
Muscle tears or twitches, increased muscular tightness & soreness.
Nerve pain, pins & needles.

4. MOOD DISORDERS:
Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, feeling flat, lack of motivation.
Low oestrogen levels result in lower dopamine and serotonin levels.

5. UROGENITAL ISSUES:
Recurrent urinary tract infections, incontinence, low libido, painful s*x, tissue tears, labial atrophy.
As oestrogen declines tissues dry out and become less elastic.

It's important to support these changes and the drop in oestrogen levels with hormone replacement (either herbal or bioidentical) in the form of topical creams, gels or patches.
Always balance oestrogen with progesterone which is important for bone health, stress reduction and quality sleep.

Also make sure the fundamentals of a healthy diet & lifestyle, daily exercise, stress reduction, and sleep hygiene are all addressed.
