Our children need parents who are willing to become more emotionally aware. Parents who can recognise when they’re overwhelmed, take responsibility for their reactions and make room for their children’s emotions without allowing every behaviour.

Emotional maturity is something we model through everyday interactions. Through the difficult conversations, the apologies, the boundaries and the moments when we choose connection instead of control.

And sometimes the most important parenting work we do is recognising the patterns we inherited and deciding which ones we no longer want to pass on.

Raising emotionally healthy children also means being willing to grow alongside them.
