Important Update for Our Bulk-Billed Patients
From 1 July 2026, there will be a change to the way Medicare requires bulk-billed appointments to be processed.
Patients attending a bulk-billed appointment will now need to provide consent for Medicare to pay the benefit directly to their healthcare provider at every visit. This is known as an Assignment of Benefit.
✅ Consent can be completed digitally via SMS or on a paper form at the practice.
✅ A new consent form is required for each bulk-billed visit.
These changes are being introduced by Medicare and will apply to all bulk-billed appointments.
