How many of us became the responsible one… without ever being asked?🙋
As a child I learned to read a room. Felt the tension, the gaps, the unspoken needs, and stepped in. 🦶
Not because anyone asked me to. But because somewhere inside, I believed that if I held it all together, things would feel safer. Calmer. And maybe, if I'm really honest, I'd finally feel seen!👀
But here's what I've come to understand, both personally and through my work:
Taking responsibility for others doesn't help them. It actually takes something from them.🫣
Their own decision-making. Their own authority. Their own lessons, relationships, and experiences that are meant to shape them.
And it takes something from you too.
We can love someone deeply and still recognise that their journey belongs to them.
This shows up in parenting. In partnerships. In friendships. In business. And often, it started long before any of those.
The invitation isn't to stop caring. It's to trust that the people in your life are capable, of making choices, learning, growing, and finding their own way.
And the moment you stop carrying what was never yours to carry… you finally have room to build what you were meant to build.
This is the work. And it changes everything.💕
