Most people say they want to change.

They want to quit smoking, lose weight, drink less, sleep better, feel more confident, reduce stress, or finally achieve a goal they've been talking about for years.

But wanting change and creating change are two very different things.

The truth is, your comfort zone will always try to keep you where you are. It's familiar, predictable, and safe—even when it's no longer serving you.

Real change begins with a decision.

A decision that says:
"I've had enough."
"I want something better."
"I'm ready to move forward."

But a decision alone isn't enough.

Action is required.

No one quits smoking by thinking about it.
No one gets fit by planning it.
No one builds confidence by waiting for it.

Change happens when a decision is followed by action.

The good news? You don't need to have the whole journey figured out. You only need to take the first step.

One decision.
One action.
One day at a time.

That's how lasting change begins.

What is one decision you've been putting off that could change your life?

Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or constantly worrying?

Sometimes we become so focused on how fast everyone else seems to be moving that we forget to focus on our own journey.

The truth is, lasting change rarely happens overnight. It comes from taking small steps in the right direction, one day at a time.

Turn down the noise. Stop comparing. Trust your path.

If what you are doing takes you closer to your goal-do more of it!
If it takes you further away-do less of it!

After all, everyone seems to have forgotten that the tortoise won. 🐢

Does Hypnotherapy Work?

My clients have had very good results. Though I have helped people for various changes they want to make in their life-from quitting ci******es & alcohol through to helping them sleep better or have a better relationship with food. Using smoking as an example, I have helped people who had been smoking, for 17, 35 and even 40 years before quitting. Many of those I’ve followed up with, from one week through to 12 months later, have remained smoke-free. That said, hypnotherapy isn’t mind control. If someone is determined to continue smoking or drinking, they will. The key is helping people strengthen their reasons for quitting and align their subconscious habits and beliefs with their conscious decision to change. A big part of the process is discovering your personal “why” for quitting. I know from my own experience of quitting both smoking and alcohol that when your reasons for change become stronger than your reasons for staying the same, the urge loses much of its power. I could sit beside a cold beer on a hot day and have no desire to drink because my reasons for not drinking are stronger than my reasons to drink. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, where habits, behaviours and automatic patterns are stored. By aligning the subconscious mind with your conscious decision to quit, change becomes much easier and more sustainable. Ultimately, success comes from a combination of your commitment to change and the work we do together during the session. My role is to help remove the mental and emotional reasons for returning to old habits and make lasting change feel natural.

Tʜᴇ Dᴇᴄɪsɪᴏɴ Tʜᴀᴛ Cʜᴀɴɢᴇᴅ Mʏ Lɪғᴇ

When I decided to quit alcohol, it seemed like such a difficult thing to do.

Maybe I could stop for a week. A month. Perhaps even six months.

But deep down, I knew that if I gave myself permission to start again one day, I probably would.

So I made a bigger decision.

I decided to stop for good.

At the time, it felt harder. But strangely, once the decision was made, everything became easier and more liberating. After the first few weeks, the battle was over. I never had to keep negotiating with myself again.

Fourteen years later, it remains one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Sure, sometimes I can appreciate the idea of a cold beer on a hot day. But it's never the drink itself that's the problem. It's everything that comes after it.

When I quit, I didn't have the benefit of hypnotherapy. I didn't know anyone who had successfully done it before me. There were no online communities counting sober days.

And that's because I never viewed it as a daily struggle.

I simply don't drink alcohol.

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat.

Someone with a peanut allergy doesn't eat peanuts.

It's not a battle. It's just who they are.

If you're considering giving up alcohol, here are a few things that may help you prepare:

1. Use a Smaller Glass

In the image, both glasses contain exactly the same amount of wine.

Yet the smaller glass appears fuller.

Sometimes your brain is easier to convince than you think.

2. Gradually Reduce Your Intake

If you currently drink a bottle of wine a day, try reducing it to three-quarters of a bottle and stay there for a while.

Once that becomes normal, reduce it again.

You're not denying yourself; you're taking back control.

3. Find Your "Why"

Why do you really want to stop?

Your reason must be stronger than your excuses.

When your "why" is powerful enough, the journey becomes much easier.

4. Change Your Routine

If alcohol is linked to a particular time, place, or activity, break the pattern.

Go for a walk.

Play cards.

Visit a friend.

Create new associations instead of reinforcing old ones.

5. Replace the Ritual

Find a non-alcoholic drink you genuinely enjoy.

Pour it into a nice glass.

Make it feel special.

Often people miss the ritual more than they miss the alcohol.

People often say that when you quit drinking, you miss out.

In my experience, you gain far more than you lose.

Better sleep.

More money.

Better health.

No hangovers.

No worrying about RBTs.

No hiding drinks.

No alcohol controlling your decisions.

And yes... you even avoid the famous purple drinking nose.

If you'd like a conversation about how hypnotherapy can help you remove alcohol's influence from your life, send me a message.

You don't have to spend the rest of your life trying to control alcohol. You can reach a point where alcohol simply isn't part of who you are anymore.

The Illusion of Commitment

“Interested.”
“Tomorrow.”
“I’ll think about it.”

These are often the stories we tell ourselves to feel like we're taking action, when in reality, nothing has changed.

How many times have you been motivated to:

✅ Join a gym
✅ Lose weight
✅ Quit smoking
✅ Cut back on alcohol
✅ Improve your health or confidence

You buy the new shoes, make the enquiry, stock the fridge with healthy food, pour out the alcohol...

And then...

Tomorrow happens.

The truth is, being interested and being committed are two very different things.

Interested people wait for the perfect time.
Committed people take action while motivation is present.

Here's a simple tip:

Commit while you're motivated.

Book the session.
Pay for the gym membership.
Set the start date.
Create accountability.

The longer you delay full commitment, the more likely you are to stay exactly where you are.

Why?

Because your conscious mind may decide it wants change, but your subconscious mind—your autopilot that runs much of your daily behaviour—prefers what is familiar. Even when familiar isn't serving you.

This is one reason hypnotherapy can be so effective. It helps align your subconscious mind with the conscious decision you've already made, reducing the internal resistance that so often keeps people stuck.

The interested talk about change.
The committed create it.

One Size Doesn't Fit All

Sometimes people come to me wanting to solve a problem or make a specific change in their life. However, what they want to change is often the result of something deeper that's been driving the behaviour in the background.

This doesn't mean they lack willpower or motivation. It simply means that lasting change often requires looking beyond the symptom and understanding what's really keeping the issue in place.

That's why I sometimes delve a little deeper, because one size doesn't fit all.

Recently, someone came to see me to quit smoking. They left as a non-smoker, but interestingly, they told me that the first part of the session was actually the highlight of their visit. During that part of the session, we explored perspectives, beliefs, and possibilities that helped them see things in a completely different way. It opened up a whole new world of potential for them.

My sessions are about more than just helping you quit smoking, sleep better, reduce anxiety, or change habits that no longer serve you. They also include a personalised process designed to uncover what's really driving the issue, helping you gain clarity, shift limiting beliefs, and discover new possibilities for growth and change.

Sometimes the breakthrough you're looking for isn't just in changing a behaviour—it's in uncovering the reason it was there in the first place.

Because lasting change isn't always about doing more. Sometimes it's about understanding more.

If this resonates with you and you would like to find out more, drop me a message and we can have a chat.

Often words trigger us because they hold emotional associations linked to past experiences.

Perhaps you’re going through a relationship breakup and every time you receive correspondence from your ex, you instantly feel stressed the moment you see their name. Or maybe you’re under financial pressure and dread the phone ringing, worrying it could be someone chasing outstanding money.

Words, events, names, sounds, or even certain dates can become emotionally charged when we associate them with an unpleasant memory or stressful experience. Over time, just hearing that word or seeing that name can trigger an automatic emotional response.

One process I use with clients is helping to remove the emotional power from those triggers. This can be done by creating new, more positive associations with the word or name instead of automatically linking it to stress or anxiety.

For example, if your ex’s name — let’s say “Luke” — causes stress every time you see a text or email, one technique is to intentionally mix that name amongst things you genuinely enjoy:

Pavlova… Cheesecake… Luke… Chocolate Mudcake… Apple Crumble 😄

It may sound simple, but the subconscious mind responds strongly to association and repetition. The goal is to weaken the old emotional connection and reduce the intensity of the trigger over time.
