A few of our favourite shots from yesterday’s hydrotherapy session with the beautiful Max… 🦮🌟

Max has been coming in to see us over the past few weeks to support some ongoing hip issues, along with a previous ACL injury from a few years ago.

These regular hydro sessions have given him a safer space to move and build strength, while also taking pressure off his joints so he can move more freely without that added strain. It also helps to bring some awareness back into muscles that tend to switch off or get avoided, especially with past injuries like his.

With Max, it’s less about fixing one specific problem and more about supporting his body as a whole, by keeping him moving, maintaining strength, and helping reduce the build-up of strain over time.

He’s been responding really nicely to his sessions so far and we’re excited to see where things go in the future! 🤩🤍

Back in the pool for session number 2 with Oliver Twist! 🐾

Oliver is a 7-year-old Dachshund with IVDD who was brought in to help improve movement in his back legs. He’s still a little unsure of the water, but today he was braver, taking a few more steps than last time, and even accepting some treats. Each session helps him build strength, confidence, and mobility at his own pace. 💧

It’s completely normal for dogs to take their time with something new, and it’s wonderful to see Oliver becoming more relaxed with each visit.

Exciting news Yeppoon Dog Owners!! 🤩🤍 We’re officially ready to start welcoming your beloved furry friends in for sessions, here at Coastal Canine Hydrotherapy in Yeppoon 🦮

Over the past few days, we’ve been testing the tank with our own pups, learning how to make every session smooth, safe, and fun and seeing firsthand how different dogs react to the water.

Yesterday was also an extra-special milestone for us as we welcomed our very first clients who weren’t our own dogs!! Watching them gradually settle in, start walking, and find their rhythm in the water was such a rewarding moment.

We’re now confident enough to open the books and will have sessions available from next Monday, March 23rd, with sessions Monday–Saturday, 9am–5pm (by appointment only).

Hydrotherapy can be a wonderful option for dogs for all ages, sizes and breeds, and is especially ideal for those needing gentle exercise, support with joint health and mobility, recovery after injury, or low-impact exercise.

A slightly less happy participant from yesterday’s trial run of the hydrotherapy tank… 🫣🐶 Our girl Paris is best described as a little stubborn and somewhat aloof, often choosing not to participate in most activities and usually preferring to find a cozy spot somewhere to curl up for a nap instead. 😉

So when it came time to test the tank, she wasn’t exactly thrilled about the idea at first! But after just a few minutes of standing still and politely refusing to walk with the treadmill (as seen in picture 1), she eventually found her rhythm and started to get the hang of it.

This is actually a really normal reaction for some dogs, especially those who are a little more cautious or unsure in new environments which is why we wanted to quickly touch on it.

With a bit of reassurance, encouragement, and sometimes a couple of treats, most dogs relax and begin to move comfortably once they realise what’s going on.

Every dog adjusts in their own time, and part of our role during these hydrotherapy sessions is making sure they feel safe, supported, and confident throughout the process. By the end of her session, Paris had settled in much more and was moving along quite happily.

Safe to say she definitely earned a big cuddle afterwards!

Behind the scenes of our very first hydrotherapy trial this morning. 🤩🐕

We had one of our own dogs (Charlie) happily help us test the tank and start learning the flow of sessions. It was very exciting to finally see it in action, and safe to say he took to the underwater treadmill pretty naturally. 😂🤍

Hydrotherapy allows dogs to walk while the water supports their body weight, helping them move more comfortably while gently building strength, mobility and aiding in rehabilitation and recovery.

We’re still slowly getting everything fine-tuned down here at CCH, but we’re getting close and are very excited to start offering this service in Yeppoon QLD very shortly!
