Happy International Day of the Midwife đЎ
Every dayâĻthousands of women bring new life into this world.
But in that moment of pain, fear, and uncertainty
who stands beside them?
A midwife. đ¸
Not always seenâĻđĨ
Not always recognizedâĻđ
But always there.đ¤°đ¤
A midwife is not just a healthcare provider.
She is a guide through pregnancy,
A calm voice during labor,
A protector when every second matters.
From antenatal care to safe deliveryâĻ
to the first breath of a newborn.
midwives make the difference between risk and safetyâĻbetween fear and hope.
And yet,
too many mothers and newborns still die
from causes we know how to prevent.
That is why the 2026 global call is clear:
âOne Million More Midwives.â
Because more midwives mean-
*more skilled care,
*more safe births,
*and stronger health systems.
In places like Bangladesh,
midwives are working every day-
*in rural communities,
*in crowded hospitals,
*in the most challenging conditions.
I have seen it myself,
a motherâs fear turning into reliefâĻ
a silent room filled with the first cry of life.
These are not just moments.
They are the reason we exist.
Yes, the challenges are real,
staff shortages,
heavy workload,
limited recognition.
But still, midwives continue with skill, with compassion, with unwavering commitment.
Because for a midwife-
every life matters. đ
Today, on the International Day of the Midwife,
let us not just celebrate-
-let us act. â
-Invest in midwives.
-Support midwives.
Empower midwives.
Because one midwife can change a lifeâĻ
But one million more midwives can change the world.
