🐶 Your lumbar spine is hiding a dog on X-ray — and most doctors miss this on day one.

This is called the Scotty Dog Sign, seen on an oblique lumbar spine X-ray. Every part of the vertebra maps to a part of the dog:

👁 Eye → Pedicle
👂 Ear → Superior articular process
🐾 Head → Transverse process
🔴 Neck → Pars interarticularis
🦴 Back → Lamina
🐕 Tail → Spinous process
🦵 Legs → Inferior Articular processes

But here’s the clinical gold 👇

When the dog’s NECK appears broken or shows a collar — that’s spondylolysis. A stress fracture through the pars interarticularis. It’s one of the most common causes of low back pain in young athletes — gymnasts, fast bowlers, and weightlifters especially.

🔍 How to remember it forever:
The pedicle = the eye (round, dense, never missed)
The neck = the pars (where fractures happen)
