Definition:
RPED is the separation of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) from the underlying Bruch's membrane due to accumulation of fluid, blood, or fibrovascular tissue.

B-Scan Ultrasonography Findings:
👉Smooth, localized dome-shaped elevation at the posterior pole.
👉Highly reflective membrane corresponding to the detached RPE.
👉Lesion is usually shallow and immobile.
👉No after-movements on dynamic examination.
👉May resemble a small choroidal detachment but is more localized and less extensive.
👉Associated subretinal fluid or choroidal neovascularization may be present in advanced cases

Clinical Significance: B-scan is useful when fundus visualization is poor due to media opacity and helps differentiate RPED from retinal detachment, choroidal detachment, and intraocular tumors.
