Gāyatrī Upāsanā A Workshop on Sacred Mantra Practice with Bibi Lorenzetti
Of all the mantras preserved in the Vedic tradition, the Gāyatrī stands apart — appearing in all four Vedas and chanted for thousands of years as an invocation of the sun's luminous intelligence. In Sanskrit, upāsanā means "to sit near" — to draw close to something sacred through devoted, sustained attention. This workshop is an invitation to do exactly that.
Together we will explore the Gāyatrī mantra as a living practice — not merely a recitation, but a means of steadying the mind and aligning ourselves with the truth that already holds us.
Together we will explore:
The mantra's origins, structure, and the Vedic tradition of chandas and svara
The philosophical meaning of the mantra and its relevance to modern practice
The role of sankalpa — intentional dedication — in entering sacred study
How correct recitation cultivates discernment and steadiness of mind
No prior Sanskrit knowledge is required. The only prerequisite, as the tradition itself holds, is śraddhā — sincere dedication to the practice and to showing up as a practitioner.
Come ready to chant, to listen, and to rest in the truth.
