The HuMan Foot seminar begins this journey by rethinking one of the body’s most fundamental structures — the foot — and its role in human movement, stability, and overall health.

“HuMan: More Than a Seminar — a Learning Experience.” Anton Ghys is a movement specialist, educator, and physiotherapist with a deep passion for the foot as the foundation of human performance, posture, and injury preven

tion. With over a decade of experience in human biomechanics, Anton has dedicated his career to understanding how the foot influences the entire body — from subtle postural shifts to explosive athletic movements. Blending knowledge from fields such as physiotherapy, functional movement, neurodevelopment, and manual therapy, Anton offers a multidisciplinary approach to assessing and treating movement dysfunctions. Anton guides professionals on a journey to rediscover the foot not just as a structure, but as a dynamic sensory organ — key to stability, coordination, and longevity in movement. His seminars are known for their high-level content, hands-on learning, and immediately applicable tools for therapists, trainers, and coaches alike. Whether working with elite athletes or rehabilitation clients, Anton’s approach is grounded, evidence-informed, and deeply connected to natural movement principles. His goal: to help professionals reconnect with the body's foundation and transform how they view human movement, starting from the foot.

Morning movement. Wake up the body before the day begins. 🌅

Three things I keep coming back to:

1. ROTATE 🌀
Rotational work — strongly influenced by Exploring spirals, rotation and movement through the whole body instead of always moving in straight lines.

2. BOUNCE 🦘
Lymphatic hops. Light, rhythmic bouncing to get the body moving, increase circulation and stimulate lymphatic flow.

3. GROUND 🌱
Barefoot walking through the garden. Feeling the temperature, texture and unevenness of the earth underneath my feet. No shoes. Just direct contact with the ground.

Rotate.
Bounce.
Ground.

A simple morning ritual to remind the body what it was designed to do:

MOVE. FEEL. ADAPT.

A shoe can never replace what a foot is supposed to do.

Train the foot. Don’t outsource its job to your shoes.

Your big toe should move.

Every step, squat, lunge, and sprint depends on it. When the big toe loses mobility, the foot, and often the rest of the body, has to compensate.

Mobility is something you can train. Start with your foundation. 👣

Want to learn how to assess and restore foot function? Join the HuMan FOOT Workshop this October in Antwerp. Two days of practical assessment, treatment, and movement strategies for healthcare professionals.

Sometimes the smallest change in your environment creates the biggest change in your behavior.

Don’t chase the perfect workout. Chase the habit.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been building one simple habit: doing pull-ups or chin-ups every day.

Some days I do 10.
Some days I only do 5.

And that’s perfectly fine.

One of the biggest lessons from Atomic Habits is that every repetition is a vote for the person you want to become.

I’m not trying to prove how many I can do.
I’m trying to become someone who never skips them.

Consistency beats intensity.
Identity beats motivation.

The goal isn’t to set a personal record every day.
The goal is to show up every day.

Because strength isn’t built in one great session.
It’s built in hundreds of ordinary ones.

What small habit are you building today?

Foot therapy at Barefoot Antwerp is about much more than treating foot pain.

Your feet are the foundation of every step you take. They provide strength, balance, movement, and the sensory information your brain relies on to move efficiently.

When the feet lose mobility, strength, or their ability to sense the ground, the effects don’t always stay in the feet. Knees, hips, back, and even the way you move through daily life can change as a result.

That’s why foot therapy isn’t about treating feet in isolation.

At Barefoot Antwerp, every assessment starts from the ground up. We look beyond the painful area to understand how your feet move, how they interact with the rest of your body, and how restoring their natural function can improve the way you stand, walk, run, and live.

Healthy movement starts where your body meets the ground.
