I’ve never been particularly fond of obligations.
I prefer things that feel right — choices that come naturally, rather than things we do because we think we should.
Since my divorce, I’ve discovered that I’m actually quite comfortable on my own. I enjoy the quiet, being at home, taking time to simply be.
And there’s nothing wrong with that.
But perhaps there is a difference between choosing solitude and slowly retreating into it.
We are human beings.
We need nature.
We need stillness.
But we also need connection.
So I’ve started making a small conscious choice on weekends: to step outside, discover something new, meet people, and simply be part of life.
Today, that meant discovering a new place, spending time outdoors and enjoying a good coffee in a nearby village.
Not every experience has to be perfect.
Sometimes it’s simply an experience — something to feel, learn from, and decide whether it resonates with you.
Perhaps balance is not about choosing between solitude and connection.
Perhaps it’s about knowing when you need one… and when you need the other.
What do you think?
