🚀 Deliverable spotlight | From user feedback to platform improvements

In this post, we highlight D4.3 Platform validation report, which presents the evaluation and final development steps of the NUTRI-CHECK NET Platform.

The deliverable describes how feedback from end-users was collected and used to refine the platform’s features and functionalities. The final updates included the upload of Best Practices, multilingual support in eight languages, improvements to platform repositories, enhanced visuals and functionalities, and considerations for the platform’s sustainability and legacy.

This report shows how user feedback helped shape a platform designed to provide open-access knowledge for more site-specific nutrient management.

🤝 Deliverable spotlight | Co-creating Best Practices for crop nutrition

In this post, we highlight D1.3 Co-creation of BP workshop minutes, which documents the co-creation process behind the NUTRI-CHECK NET Best Practices.

The process started with partners proposing practices across the three categories Plan, Check & Adjust and Review. A total of 249 proposed practices were collected and refined into 140 unique practices for further discussion.

The final Best Practices were shaped through workshops, scoring, National Expert Group discussions and validation, ensuring that they reflected both scientific knowledge and practical experience from different European contexts.

📊 Deliverable spotlight | Understanding the value of crop nutrition tools

In this post, we focus on D3.3 Cost Benefit Assessment, which presents a Cost-Benefit Analysis of crop nutrition decision and precision tools used in arable farming across Europe.

The deliverable assesses both economic and non-economic aspects of tool adoption, using data from nine European countries and applying indicators such as Net Present Value and Benefit-Cost Ratio over a five-year analysis period.

The findings provide useful insights into the financial viability of different tools and technologies, supporting farmers, advisors and policymakers in making more informed decisions about sustainable nutrient management.

🌱 NUTRI-CHECK NET results highlighted by the European Commission

We are pleased to see the results of NUTRI-CHECK NET featured in a dedicated CORDIS Results in Brief article: “Farm-tested tools help farmers cut fertiliser guesswork.”

Through its“measure-to-manage” approach, NUTRI-CHECK NET encouraged farmers to use reliable information throughout the crop nutrition cycle: to plan nutrient applications, check and adjust decisions during the growing season, and review results after harvest.

Working through the project’s Crop Nutrition Clubs, farmers, advisers and researchers exchanged experiences and assessed the tools in real farming conditions. This collaborative work contributed to the development of 21 holistic best practices and an online platform where users can search, filter and compare crop nutrition tools and services.

NUTRI-CHECK NET is also featured in a new CORDIS Results Pack on nutrient-rich fertilisers from organic waste and renewable biomass, which brings together 11 EU-funded projects contributing to bio-based fertilisers, nutrient recovery, circularity and more sustainable nutrient management in Europe.

🌱 Deliverable spotlight | Tools tested by Crop Nutrition Clubs across Europe

In this post, we highlight D3.2 CNC surveys of tools, which present the results of tool evaluations carried out by Crop Nutrition Clubs across Europe.

Within Task 3.2 of NUTRI-CHECK NET, relevant tools supporting the planning, checking and reviewing of nutrient applications were demonstrated and evaluated by 26 Crop Nutrition Clubs.

The deliverable explores how tools can support farmers and advisors in improving nutrient management, crop nutrition and decision-making, while contributing to increased nutrient use efficiency, reduced environmental impact and improved economic returns.

📣 New Support Tool for Bio-Based Innovation 🌱

💡 Did you know that Bio-Based Technologies ( ) can help drive a more circular, lower-emission rural economy?

🫂 One of the most effective ways to bring these innovations to farms and forests is through Operational Groups ( ), which bring together farmers, researchers, advisors and businesses to tackle shared challenges.

🤔 Yet despite their potential, the number of BBT OGs remains surprisingly low across many EU Member States. What's holding them back?

📝 To answer this question, spoke with the people closest to the process. Our new Operational Groups Support Tool: Tackling Systemic Barriers to Bio-Based Innovation in Farms and Forests is based on insights from 15 experts, including CAP Network representatives, Managing Authorities, advisors and researchers from Ireland, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain and Italy.

🎯 The tool explores the barriers and opportunities at every stage of the Operational Group journey - from the initial idea to what happens after a project ends - and offers practical recommendations to support future bio-based innovation.

💻 Deliverable spotlight | Building the foundations of the NUTRI-CHECK NET Platform

In this post, we highlight D4.1 Requirements analysis report, the deliverable that defined the technical and functional basis for the NUTRI-CHECK NET digital platform.

The report outlines the platform’s functional and non-functional requirements, including accessibility, availability, data integrity, reliability, architecture, security, data access protocols and UI/UX considerations.

By setting out these requirements, NUTRI-CHECK NET created the foundation for a digital platform designed to support knowledge exchange, access to crop nutrition decision tools and more precise nutrient management across Europe.
